KW has been absolutely blanketed by snow, although we weren't hit super hard by the last storm, we've just been getting a steady stream of snow non-stop that they've really struggled to keep up with.

Just yesterday we had two vehicles end up going over the edge of a highway flyover due to the snow embankments being so high that they effectively formed a ramp over the edge. One driver died, and the other was airlifted to Hamilton, though they will likely be okay.

Going back above freezing today, looks like it should stick around for a while too!

Thanks! Noted for future posts.

Cold, cold here. No thaw in site. The clean up continues and a lot of the side streets will be a mess for a loooong time.

Currently -11 and a light wind.

Long term forecast is grim. -10/-9/-11/-10/-6/-3. That -3 day is going to feel tropical

Its interesting to see the various comments from Across the country with regard to our perception of cold.

Where some of you find -10 to -5 bitterly cold. Those of us in colder regions find those temps relatively OK and we go out and do things. Even at -20 we tend to still go on with our lives out here. But god forbit we go up past +30 and we complain and wish for colder weather.

Perception is a great leveler. When I was spending time in the Artic. I would go for a walk at -40 or colder. But when I was living in TO I had a hard time going out at -5.

But just remember spring is on its way. The sun is up longer.

( the only reason I don't go for a bike ride when temps are less than -20 is the bike gets slow).

I think everyone just kinda acclimatizes to their local climate. Our average high this time of year is just below freezing, so when you get a stretch of time consistently around -10, it's rough. Life still goes on, we just bitch about it more, lol

I’m absolutely blown away by these shots! Seeing your neighborhood buried under tons of snow is pure eye-candy. Mother Nature can be so unfair: it’s really a case of feast or famine in the weather world

It was -10 in Gatineau today with no wind, and it felt absolutely balmy compared to the past weekend.

-11C with a wind chill of -14 and overcast. Barely any wind so at least that was positive. You know you've had an historically bad winter when you find positives to sub -10 degrees weather.

Low of -19C (wind chill of -28) this morning.

The warmspot was Tofino, BC at 13.5C.

Warmest low was Kindakun Rocks, BC at 8.6C.

It was nice while it lasted but the blue skies are gone and rain is coming. Dry, calm and mostly overcast.

Tuesday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 9 C, the low was 3 C.

Vancouver, Jan.27 '26, my pics

-16C (windchill -25) in Moncton at 9 AM and sunny. The high today will be -9C

Another nor'easter predicted for next Monday. This will likely again be a Nova Scotia event, but, Moncton is close enough the to NS border (50 km) that we will likely get some dirt too. Precise storm track and snow and wind amounts can not yet be determined.

It's...kind of a nice morning? Am I suffering from Stockholm Syndrome?

-13, all sunshine and little wind.

Long term models are showing February being well below average - could be our coldest since the historic February of 2015

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel that normally cold spells are associated with sunnier weather which acts as a bit of a counterbalance. This has been an unusually grey January, though, which makes the cold feel colder.

You're right, usually colder = sunnier. It's actually been quite sunny in Toronto. I travel between KW and Toronto often and there can be a surprising difference in conditions despite being relatively close. Not an expert but I would guess it's a mix of elevation (Toronto Core is about 80 metres above sea level, KW ranges from 300-400 metres) and distance from the lake.

Out west, High pressure systems are sunny and cold. low pressure are cloudy and warm. Then it switches in the summer High pressure is sunny and warm and low pressure is cloudy and moist. Pretty much has a lot to do with the suns intensity. But that does change when we have a chinook.

But we watch for the dreaded of all meteorological phenonium, the Siberian High. Then its just sunny and FN cold.

Yesterday in Calgary it was quite nice. +7C and sunny, today sunny, with a bit of gray. I can't complain much considering it's January and the week ahead is all sunny and warm.

Right now across the country.
