I think you might mean Deep River, just north of Petawawa. There the 17 goes through the town's Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire, etc. strip and there is quite a bit of housing along the road. That stretch could definitely use a bypass.

Cobden and Mattawa too.
When I say "Two Rivers" I am usually refering to Deep River and Chalk River. I think that Chalk River has been mostly bypassed though. We nearly ran over a dog last time we were in Cobden. That certainly needs a bypass. The Mattawa alignment and roundabout is very confusing. I think if they don't want to upgrade to a freeway right now thay could build freeways whenever they had construction. Like if they build a bypass of Cobden, they should build it as a freeway. If they need to repave it they should twin the section they rebuild.

Convoy to travel from NWO to NEO on 16th (Saturday) and from NEO to EO on 17th (Sunday)

I’m guessing the route is 17 -> (Nipigon) 11 -> (North Bay) 17.*

If anyone’s travelling east on those 2 days, mark this and expect significant delays.

* I can’t rule out 17 all the way though. If this is the case, I wonder if it has anything to do with nuclear waste, which we talked about a while back.

Sounds like 17 as they are expected to pass through Sudbury.

I just found that. (In short, Albertans want the pipeline.)

Huh this is very interesting...

Heard about it. They also want to cleanse Canada of anyone not white.

Personally, I hope they get pulled over by the MTO and shut down due to noncompliance.

I just happen to be in Sudbury right now. I really hope they stay on Hwy 17 as I don't want to see them. If they show up in the middle of Sudbury they will not be well received. I will be giving them thumbs down and shouting at them to get their hillbilly views out of Northern Ontario.

In that case, I wonder if these guys just got booed everywhere once they stepped into Ontario.

My guess is that they will be ignored by many, laughed at and shouted at being racist or whatever by some and supported by just a few who aren't popular and respected types of people.

Purposely slowing down or stopping traffic really pisses off Ontarians. They will not be popular in Ottawa just for that reason. It's kind of funny that the protesters complain about Alberta suffering yet they can afford to drive their fancy vehicles here and parade around?

https://northernontario.ctvnews.ca/mobil...convoy-rolling-through-sudbury-1.4301435

“An online fundraising effort has generated $117,685 of a $250,000 goal by over 1,200 people in one month. The money is going towards supplies, gas, and accommodations for the convoy’s participants.”

“When asked if the group’s message included anti-immigrant sentiment, the organizer responded that there are many immigrants who have joined their convoy and he would ask people to be more open-minded. Corbeil says many feel that the government has a hard time taking care of Canadians, and that they should be first priority.”

In other words "Boys, keep that to yourself while we do this otherwise no one will believe we actually care about the rest of Canada."

People blocking roads are not welcome in Ottawa. If they really want attention, do it in a positive way.

FN's do that all the time, though. An FN convoy slowed people down on the 401 a while back to bring home a message.

Maybe there should be restrictions on protests blocking roads. Once in Times Square one took like 20 minutes to pass. Now I know, Ottawa isn't NYC. But still ... What are they protesting for?

I don't even necessarily support these guys' cause, but somehow I doubt people would haul their asses 3500 km across Canada over several weeks, on two lane roads for half the route, in the middle of winter, to somehow bash immigrants and Muslims and non-white people, while only *pretending* to be concerned about the future of the oil and gas industry.

This just doesn't compute for me.

If they think immigrants are taking their jobs, they would.

It sounds to me like the Yellow Vests tried to make an alliance with United We Roll, and United We Roll kicked them to the curb. And now the Yellow Vests are pissed. (And want some money back.)
