Forecast high for Calgary today has been upgraded to 18!

Somewhere in Southern Alberta will definitely hit 20 today!

Currently +7C and sunny in Moncton at 3 PM.

The snow has disappeared from the ground outside my office window.

I look forward to sniffing the warm breeze when I leave work today.

C'mon Claresholm, 1 more degree!

17 in Calgary right now, and the wind isn't too bad at all. Will probably be a 60k headwind in time for my bike ride home, but I had a beer on a patio in January so worth it!

Amazing weather in southern Alberta today! A feat I thought only Windsor Ontario was capable of

Here are the weather summaries for November and December!

And, at my house this last weekend it snowed about 2 to 3cm!

Always amazes me how cold it gets here in the winter, despite being on an island, next to the ocean, at sea level, at 33 degrees North (nearly the same as LA).

We have had at least around 20 frosty morning too, with the lowest being -4 so far, yet parts of Victoria have yet to freexe this year!

^ East Asian cities at similar latitudes to NA ones never seem to match up. The lack of really tall mountains blocking cold air from Siberia plays a large roll. Shanghai's latitude is similar to northern Mexico's, but the winters can be pretty cold. I remember one winter when it got down to -9C.

It was cloudy/foggy with misty rain today. High of 8C. The sun is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

This isn't entirely uncommon, Chinooks can really warm it up here. 20 in January is rare, but 10-15 isn't. I've sat on a patio in the sun in shorts in February before, and it got kinda rowdy. Think it was -20 a few days later.

What a day it was though, made me long for summer, and as I predicted I had a very strong headwind to cycle home into lol. Back to normal tomorrow though, high of 4.

We're getting a big snowstorm tonight, just in time for a major drop in temperature. Looks like it will be very cold for the next couple weeks.

I know, I was just having some fun with a silly comment a few pages ago.

I believe two years ago (or last year?) southern Saskatchewan hit 21 in January.

5C and cloudy. Some rain and off.

Lowest temperature overnight was 2C.

The warmspot was Claresholm, AB at 19.5C. Just short of the 20 degrees mark. Still nonetheless warmest temperature this year in the country. Absolutely amazing day.

Warmest low was Herbert Island, BC at 8.8C.

Final data shows White Rock and Powell River with a low of 9.9C yesterday so just short of the double digits. Highest low this year nonetheless.

My comment was made in regards to the sun's intensity, length of the day as well as the wind. I am well aware of the different Canadian climates. The first 2 are facts that cannot be disputed really.

But I have to honest, it was directed with a specific person in mind.

The 21 degrees in January was 2 years ago. Here are all the official 20C achieved in January across the country.

+4C and pretty heavy rain in Moncton at 9 AM, getting up to +7C this afternoon.

The only snow left in the city is in the snowbanks. All the ice on my driveway is gone.

Eye of the storm landed right smack dab in the middle of Toronto. Will likely end up being our highest single day snowfall total since Jan 2022.

It's brutal out, -14 and high winds. Windchill reading of -24. Large snow drifts because of this, some spots you can see bare asphalt, others have 60 cm of snow piled up.

We got 5 or 6 inches, one of the biggest snowfalls we've had since I've lived here. It's about -10 but doesn't feel too bad when you're shovelling.

Yeah the snow drifts were annoying. Nothing major here but it's a good thing I tarped off the patio seat that's under the gazebo. Snow normally wouldn't go in there or just a little bit but the tarp has about a cm on it.

It's still snowing and I think we're gonna end up with like 20 cm or more potentially. Good thing it's light and fluffy. I started shoveling at 6:30 and will have to again after 2 when it stops.

We only had bare grass for a week after the last melt and this snow is going to be around for weeks. So like a normal winter from the past. I thought last year's two months of snow cover was bad, but we've been spoiled compared to the past.

Sunny and 10 to 12 along much of the south coast in BC today, and sunny and 11 in Osoyoos.

I think I know who that was for...

Interesting list, and no real big surprises there.

-5C with a wind chill of -8C. Snowing.

It was 2C overnight. The drop below freezing happened around 4AM.

The warmspot was Grand Etang, NS at 13.4C

Warmest low was Race Rocks and Discovery Island, BC at 7.9C

Interesting observation:
Currently about -13C in the Leamington/Point Pelee area. Pelee Island PWS is at -6C.

In the afternoon, Pelee Island was about half a degree milder than Point Pelee. Someone can correct me but I believe lake Erie is frozen in its southern portion so it lessens the island effect. We will see what the difference at different time in the year.

Snow is almost completely gone. Very mild but periods of very heavy rain.
