Here's an old chesnut for discussion. How about a forum just called "Manitoba", as if it was a self-contained province all by itself and not somehow connected to another province? Maybe someone can have poll to be followed a discussion about the meaning of the poll. Otherwise, I really think there should be a Manitoba and Ontario forum.

^Don't get started on that one again Ando! Some have longed for the day Manitoba will have it's own sub-forum. Seems a poll comes up every few months.

I know, it comes up often but not as much as the facade on Centrepoint and whether it looks good or not. In the meantime, a proud and single Manitoba forum remains but a dream ...

New coffee shop opening at 679 Sargent soon. Ethnic grocery store opening in the former Bargain Shop on Sargent across from Safeway.

The city needs to expand TIF to include parts of the West End/Spence neighborhood. The West End Biz is currently trying to formulate some plan to attract investment, but TIF is the best tool.

^ An ethnic grocer should do well in that location. Good stuff.

Over the weekend I was down that part of Sargent for a dinner, then walked down to the WECC for a concert, and seeing all the different restaurants and shops made me realize how much I hate living in the suburbs...

Are you referencing this 15 storey build on Wellham by MMP architects?
You'd have to let me know, haven't been in the area for some time.

Before the last thread/poll a couple of months ago, it was close to 3 years before the last one. The powers that be will let it ride as is.

Yeah that's the one. 15 storey, 20 storey. meh. It was supposed to be 40 storeys or something crazy, dating back to the original plans some are familiar with. There's another tower supposed to go in there, I think in between the original two buildings.

Thx for the clarification WEW.

The way they wedged that third tower in at the Whellams Lane project looks lousy from above. It's like the three towers were just randomly scattered around that lot.

Are there still actually plans for a fourth tower there?

Thanks for the pics btw cyro, I rarely make it up to those parts. I drove over the Chief Peguis bridge once in the winter and I was amazed by how much new construction was visible from it, including a bunch of low/midrises to the north.

The website said phase two is the south tower. I think it's supposed to go perpendicular to the original towers. Either over top or near where the pool is. But I'm not sure on that as there have been numerous plans for this site.

i cannot believe it says 90% plus leased for the g3 building. who the f*ck has moved in there? anyway, with the alien spaceship condo, field house and museum under construction when you drive by you would think that area is under some kind of rejuvenation.. it just looks good despite our views otherwise. Olympic bid?

If someone has occupied that much of it, will they get their name on it instead of G3?

Took a drive through the point area in St. Boniface bordered by the tracks and Whittier Park, Tache, Message and hebert. Very impressive what is going on there in terms of new housing, the beginnings of a very funky neighbourhood - fantastic location.
