Our first house in Calgary, 1935 bungalow, had the broken pop bottle glass stucco. One sympathizes with those suffering from flooding. It has been an eye-opener , however, to see how many homes, including large modern places, have been built in places susceptible to flooding. One wonders how many people understood the risk they were running?

It still mystifies me that 99.9% of the houses along the Elbow river in Calgary just got repaired and moved into again. The province bought out a few so there are now random empty lots, but the vast majority are still there.

I don't mind it as a lane way. In fact a lot of houses in Vancouver are built like that from the back to make the most of the view on properties with steep grades.

That's multi family though. I live in a townhouse that also has garages off the back into the alley. The example I posted looked like a sfh with 4 garages.

Edit: looking at it again they look like duplexes. Not as bad then. Assuming it is a back laneway means there is no yard though.

Yes it's the home of the Venetian. Edmonton has a large Italian population. Thankfully they seem to have moved past themed stucco highrises though with the new ICE district.

That would have been quite something if Stantec had been clad in stucco.
