Looks good. I think I prefer this over the new Edmonton arena, which has a more polarizing and edgy design. I do wonder why they didn't bother adding a tower over the parking garage at least. Speed things up?

Edmonton's spaceship design is cool, but it's terrible at the street level. The plaza across the street seems nice, need to go there and see it in person to have a proper feel for it. What this does better is to activate the streets on 2 sides and create activity outside of game days. This building went in a completely different direction and I'm quite happy about that, especially with the BMO Centre across the street. Now we just need a hotel or 3 in the area!

I would put this design, theme, etc. at the same level as Edmontons. (and that's not including the carbunkle community rink on McJesus's spaceship.)

Agreed. Even for the arena, it would be convenient for NHL teams along with artists and crews performing to have a 5 star hotel directly attached to the arena. It seems pretty standard nowadays.

With the Convention Centre, for sure the area needs several hotels for different budgets.

People want a hotel or three for the reason of having consistent bodies on the ground but, what about the guests inhabiting those bodies? In time but, right now just about anywhere else downtown is better for visitors to have a better impression.

I get the whole hotel convention resort. The largest convention centre in Canada survived 20 years before building a hotel. It's also on an exhibition grounds disconnected from the urban downtown fabric. There's a difference with convention/hotel complexes that are within the downtown fabric and convention/hotel complexes that are off to a corner. Oddly, It does full circle with those auto centric airport complexes.

This hotel would be beside the arena (games, concerts and other events), BMO Centre (conventions and events), on the Stampede grounds (guaranteed sellout for 2 weeks of the year), a couple blocks from the central library, Studio Bell, Inglewood, St Patricks Island / Zoo. Stephen Ave or 17th would be a 5-10 minute walk. But you're right, terrible location!

The Hamilton Sports Group, which owns the Tiger-Cats, Forge FC, and the long-term stadium lease, will announce a new naming rights partner and a new name for the building in due course.

Seems like a very convenient spot to be, directly connected (probably) to the Convention Centre and Arena. I know when I go to a Conference, I prefer not having to put on my coat and walk in the cold to get from my hotel room and the conference.

It may not be the first choice for the average tourist (outside the stampede), but it will be for anyone going to BMO or the Arena. I'd even say it's convenient outside of that thanks to close access to the C-Train, current and future.

And eventually, the area will develop into its own urban enclave that will be be integrated with the rest of downtown fairly well.

Wow! That is uninspiring to say the least. No jacket on the exterior of the new stand, so it looks a little like Hamilton's stadium but worse. In fact, it looks incredibly cheap. At least the other side had an interesting architectural feature of the wood curtain. What is the cost of the new stand by itself?

The lower deck looks like it is divided in two...like it appears there is a walkway separating the lower lower deck from the upper lower deck stands. I wonder what that is about? Could it be a something that separates club seats from general seats?

Why on earth is the middle of the upper deck extending further down than the rest of the upper deck? It looks incredibly silly.

I also thought there was supposed to be additional suites constructed with the new stand? I don't see any in the new renders.

I think it looks pretty good, inside and out. The seats are where football fans want them to be (in the middle) and it has a quirky US college kind of look to it The "overhang" will likely be prized seats. I like it.
