What great photos of Halifax!!! I would love to go there one day. Looks like a beautiful city. My dad was actually born there too and we have family back there who I've never seen.

Thank you for sharing.

@The Great Scaper and @Zoomer, thanks for the explanations about the fountains running in winter. I am still not comfortable (a québécois reflex I guess - winters are harsh over here). The pictures are gorgeous, but I have to "unlearn" 7 years of architecture school in order to appreciate them

--Lévis--
@Kilgore Trout and @Lio45 It is "quite" substantial, though I think Lévis lacks some sort of high street (Côte-du-Passage or Bégin could be considered as such, but they are not much more than a block-long each). The residential and institutional heritage is impressive though. Lévis is a collection of amalgamated villages/towns. It has something like 9 or 10 small village/town cores, but not a proper 150k-population city core. Anyway, the city is beautiful nonetheless.
@everyone, I am glad that the pictures were appreciated!

Yeah, I know, I lived there already in the past, still own real estate in the Vieux-Lauzon and am likely to permanently move there in the next few weeks. (I recognized all your pics, and actually noticed you didn't have any pics of my area in your selection )

Well then if you ever visit them you could also visit me at the same time

(I should specify that the offer of pickled eggs, pickled tongues, and a quart of MolsonExport, is only valid in Sherbrooke, I don't have that in Levis)

Heh heh. Yeah, that's quintessential Quebec quaint right there. Looks like the kind of place you pine for when you move away, images of it undoubtedly landing direct hits in the emotional solar plexus.
Out of all the places I know, Levis (and Quebec City too now I think of it) has a surprisingly varied mix of nearly all architectural styles, it developed steadily over the centuries instead of having a superboom in one particular era. This link has actual pictures showing examples (often not even the nicest ones) of pretty much every category:

My offer just got accepted for the (nice old) building I had my sights on (in Old Lauzon), but now my gf has decided she doesn't want to move to Levis anymore :/

I still might become your uncle's near-neighbor, I'm going to try to convince her that it's a nice place (it is, I've liked it when I lived there).

Those Kitchener buildings look like they're rising above the clouds in that second-to-last picture!
