I went downtown today in Victoria. It was a really nice afternoon. A little brisk for Victoria but still a nice day. Unlike now as it's so cold and snowing tonight. The first two photos I took last Sunday but the rest are from today.

View towers. There originally were suppose to be two of these buildings but there was a falling out between the developer and the city so only one was built and not finished. This was one of the buildings that led to really strict height restrictions in Victoria. Thankfully the city has been approving taller buildings in the past 20 years and about a block from this building is a proposal for a 32 story tower which looks like it might get approved...

A Christmas Day photoshoot - now that’s dedication Scaper! Very unusual to see those tarps on the new construction concrete pours - pretty sure that’s only used when it’s gets below zero, but someone who knows construction could explain better.

Great selection of Victoria and Montreal images. I never used to think Montreal looked that good in the winter but I've changed my mind! And Victoria seems to be having a huge amount of new construction.

Thank you for that amazing photo tour, The Great Scraper. You did a great job capturing Victoria's impressive growth in recent years. It no longer looks like the small city that I remember from my first visit there in 1994.

Interesting angle. Makes it look like it's a city in a valley of the interior.

I took a few quick photos today of downtown Victoria. I wish I had more time to take photos of the snow the last week but I have a landscaping business and was working around the clock doing snow removal. Anyways I thought I'd share a few of my quick pics from today.

I love this thread.
Thanks for the pictures, everyone! I am sorry I don't comment much on here, but the absence of a "like" function of some sort fait en sorte que I don't want to "hack" the threads with useless comments. Anyway, I appreciate your work.

@The Great Scaper, isn't it hazardous to let the water freeze in the fountains like that?

Masoliontekw - beautiful pictures, the smoke added an interesting ‘filter’ to the photos. That’s one heck of a suburb, who wouldn’t like to live there - well except during winter, unless you like winter! Was it quiet because of Covid, or do you prefer to take photos when people/cars are out of the way? Sometimes I’ll do that too, if I’m focusing more on the buildings/architecture.

Great Scaper might know more about the fountain, but I’ve never seen it turned off - although they probably should when they know it’s going to get cold enough to freeze like that. Temperatures staying below zero day and night is not common, and if it does happen it doesn’t last long, but makes for great photos Thanks for sharing GS!

Those pics don't even do it justice, IMO.

(Not surprising, since Masoliantekw explained he just had a bit of time and went around randomly.)

Great pics all around but wow Levis is gorgeous. That picture of the quay looks so much like the coastal British Isles but everything else is super… not. Love it.

Hey Zoomer. I have no idea why they run the fountains when it's freezing outside. Here's a couple of other photos I took of the fountains around the Legislature when frozen. I wish I had time to take photos of this last snow storm. It's so difficult getting photos of the city in snow as I work nonstop doing snow removal. I did a 16 hour day yesterday and stopped working at one in the morning and back at it today. I'm so thankful for the work though.

Heh heh. Yeah, that's quintessential Quebec quaint right there. Looks like the kind of place you pine for when you move away, images of it undoubtedly landing direct hits in the emotional solar plexus.

This is actually in Levis, believe it or not! I saw these buildings in person and they are very nice!

I've always loved this set of buildings in Quebec city: 293 Av. Wilfrid-Laurier
