1300 Robson probably they were doing the permits for demo work around October.

848 Seymour got approved in April but zero work to advance it. Just noticed Perkins Will asked for building grades for their other parking lot along Richards back in 2019.

I was looking at their building on Google Maps to see if it was at risk of imminent collapse

There's zero chance the office component makes any sense and it's not compliant with the area plan so I would wait for a new proposal with all rental.

There's zero chance the office component makes any sense and it's not compliant with the area plan so I would wait for a new proposal with all rental housing. And pray the new planning department staff will help push it through.

Vancouver Magazine just had a story by Kerry Gold on why housing development is so slow.

Quote:
The view protections are just one reason why the Cohen Block in the Downtown Eastside has taken so long to get approved. The former Army and Navy store site is in desperate need of revitalization, and owner Jacqui Cohen, who partnered with Bosa Properties, says it’s a legacy project—a mix of housing, retail and office in a beleaguered area that would benefit from new development.
The original concept was 32 storeys because of the Creekside Park viewcone. I think the revised viewcone gave most of the site +26-41 storeys to fit under the view cone.

Similarly, CF Pacific Centre’s former Nordstrom building will also be demolished for redevelopment. This building also houses major corporate offices for Microsoft and Sony Pictures Imageworks above the former department store space.
...

A spokesperson for Cadillac Fairview confirmed to Daily Hive Urbanized that both buildings at the property will be demolished for new-build redevelopment.

Very interesting. I'm curious to see what Cadillac Fairview has in store for the Four Seasons site. Hopefully, it's something architecturally significant.

Doesn't Microsoft still occupy a large amount of space in the Nordstrom building?

What a waste to renovate and then demolish only a decade later.

Not that I ever really liked the renovation, it has a severe lack of color, lighting and animation for the area it serves, but still....

The focus is on the Four Seasons, but the former Eatons building is a much bigger site with more potential. I would imagine they wouldn't tear these buildings down unless they were planning to build something much more substantial. View cones will limit things of course.

From the reddit thread, apparently CF spoke in error

FWIW I just noticed a bunch of ABC councillors were meeting with Arno Matis in 2024 over the 852-872 Seymour St project. Not sure what is happening with Bene Group
