I was just looking at the same document. While the grey/green spandrel is double glazed glass, the white panels are shown as metal, so wouldn't light up from behind. But those DP drawings also show the horizontal elements as anodized aluminum, and I'm pretty sure the 'as built' are glass, so there seem to have been some changes since the DP was submitted. I think they're probably just to break up the massing, and they're not symmetrical just to mess with officedweller.

A closeup. There doesn't seem to be weather sealing on that "metal" layer compared to the glass below?

They finally finished the renovations to the landscaping at the entrance to VCC and opened it up so I could get in there again and get this better angle of the Dunsmuir/Hamilton corner.

The last 3 pics are from Beatty and Dunsmuir.

I'd imagine one or two of the cranes will be coming down soon. Bittersweet as this was a very cool looking construction project, but happy to see it nearing completion!

Am I missing something?
For a 27 floor building it looks a lot more squat than I recall it looking in the final concept drawings.

It’s the wide angle lens, in person it’s much bigger than it looks in these pictures.

I think the title is incorrect. I think the old terraced version of The Post was 28 floors on the Dunsmuir side (residential) while the Georgia side was 24 floors but taller at 373 feet for the offices.

Elevations calls the top floor Level 23. It's like 180 feet to the roof line of the old building which is the floor of level 8. That steel on the roof goes up to around 360 feet.

Also, how can it be 67m?

Its also a trick of the materials. With the podium reading as a completely different building it makes the glass portion appear shorter and more wide. As well the bulk of the project is only 22/23 storeys or something like that, the 27 is just the taller end section.

Emporis has 401 West Georgia at 87.78 m (22 storeys)
(storeys are hard to gauge because of the overheight podium ceilings at The Post).
https://www.emporis.com/buildings/11...ncouver-canada

The Post is definitely shorter (maybe shorter ceiling heights for exposed utilities).
The QuadReal website describes them as 21 and 22 storey towers.

Here's a closer look at the Dunsmuir side.

The original proposal seemed like it was a similar height to the old 401 West Georgia tower. Ignore the previous elevation numbers, it's the height + adjusted to sea level.

I like the aluminum mullions on the north side in place of the glass louvres on the south side (no need for shading on the north).

This project is growing on me. Being back in Vancouver after 22 years overseas, I see a city becoming dynamic.
....(" you mean it wasn't dynamic years back? Why do you say such a thing?") Ok, it was clean, pleasant and efficient, but not exactly dynamic, but it's getting that way now.
Anyway; although I have seen sketches of the upcoming retail level of The Post, it only gave me a general idea of what it will be like. I hope that it wil be not good, but great.
In that location, in sucjh a big and accessible building, if it is something like something out of Montreal, it will really "rock" and be a catalyst for a further 'dynamizing' of the CBD.
Not only employees of Amazon & the other companies in there, but students, tourists, people out in Vancouver, looking for a place to meet, have coffee, take somebody from out of town to for a look, a vist, a place to meet up. Do it right, and this will be a great place, a "hot" place, an energizing place, a charming place, a fun place, an uplifiting and pleasing place .....

The CityMarket will be a nice amenity for people living nearby but I wouldn't get my hopes up on any other aspect of the retail/food. Even Amazing Brentwood will probably have a better collection of places to eat at in a glorified suburban food court.

Thanks for the update, but nevertheless, what a drag. The place has so much potential. It will be a shame if its bland and ordinary, but it just may well be that, I know.
