Yeah, Philadelphia doesn't have a ton of mass destruction films, but it certainly has it's fair share of movies and more recently TV shows.
Within the past ten years:
TV
Pretty Little Liars
How to Get Away With Murder
Arrow
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Friday Night Lights
The Goldbergs
Plus your occasional episodes of shows on Food Network, HGTV, Discovery, Sci-Fi, History, E!, etc.
Films
The Visit
Creed
Limitless
Warrior
World War Z (though shot in Glasgow, Scotland)
Silver Linings Playbook
Devil
The Lovely Bones
Law Abiding Citizen
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Baby Mama
The Happening
The Wrestler
Marley & Me
Shooter
Live Free or Die Hard
Rock Balboa
The Fountain
Lady in the Water
Invincible
In Her Shoes
I mean it's at least one or two big films a year. I would assume the small amount of films/TV shows shot here has to do again with our idiotic state government and the tax structure. They charge production teams too much in taxes and have recently cut back on the amount of incentives and tax breaks offered to films to shoot here. That's why World War Z decided to shoot in Glasgow over Philadelphia itself.
