Wish they could have done something more like that on Osborne instead of wrapping everything in Corten.

I know architecture nerds love Corten but it looks dingey there

^ Corten is OK when it's part of the plan from day one for a new building. Adding it on to an existing building does make it somehow look dingy.

I noticed the new FreshCo on McPhillips has signage up so probably won't be long now. Also understand the new pharmacy is operational now.

Wasn't the pharmacy never closed?

Are those pharmacy's run by a separate owner from the stores? So they would need to keep them open contractually, potentiality.

Typically I believe that's how they're run. Contracted out essentially to a pharmacist. I know one who owns/runs a Shoppers pharmacy and I believe they 'own' the pharmacy.

Almost all pharmacies in supermarkets are owned by 3rd parties. Even in Shoppers Drug Marts, the pharmacies are separately owned and operated – the pharmacy owners get a kickback based on store sales as well.

I believe when Loblaw took over Shoppers, there were still some company-owned pharmacies, but they've since sold off all of them I believe.

Thanks for the info. Do the pharmacies pay tent or some type of fee to the store? I would assume yes. But maybe it's a customer draw tactic. hey we have pharmacy too, come shop here.

The Target Canada ones were franchised and the owners on the most part lost large sums of money when Target gave them 30 days notice to vacate the store.

Your actually completely opposite. The pharmacies in Safeway, Superstore and Costco are all corporate owned and operated. There is NO 3rd party in either store. I’ve worked for Superstore in the pharmacy and have friends (pharmacists) that work for Safeway and Costco. All are direct employees of the company. Shoppers was different, the pharmacists were owners known as ‘associates.’ I believe that may have also changed when Loblaws took corporate control of stores.

If you go to the following page on the Collage of Pharmacists of Manitoba web site, you can find out the license holder for any pharmacy in Manitoba

Wish we had something like this in Winnipeg... A grocer that purchases near End of Date products and sells them at a discount to more fresh. This woman says she saved 50% on her bill.

At 5:00 mark they say that product is not taken out the cardboard boxes, to save on labour costs. Didn't Superstore or Economart used to do this? I cant remember, its been so long ago.

^ For people who are frequent grocery shoppers, something like that would be amazing. I always feel like I hit the jackpot when I go to Safeway or Co-op and there are 50% off clearance yogurts on the shelf. They always last beyond the best before date anyway....

The old EconoMart in the Eastgate shopping center on Narin @ Panet did that many years ago. You also had to put the price on the item with a grease pencil as all the product was not UPC coded back then.

I wonder how many customers put the wrong prices on the products?
