LOL, "all the way in Dovercourt". It's in one of the trendiest parts of the city with Queen West, Little Portugal, Little Italy, and Trinity Bellwoods all near by. Also if you go to the link take a look at the size of that wrap around terrace. It almost doubles the size of the place in warmer months. It appears to have already sold however.

I was gonna say, that's easily one of the most desirable parts of the city! And a setup like that with the huge terrace is really one of the only condo situations I would enjoy living in. That's not much smaller than the backyard at my current place.

Fair enough, I guess I prefer the high density areas of downtown better. Queen West is not really my scene, though I can see its appeal. I guess when I see 1 bedrooms for $400,000 in that area, it's hard for me to see the value on a $1.3mil spot even if it's spacious for a 1 bedroom.

I don't really like the Queen West vibe, but The Argyle is on a really cool street with a few neat little restaurants right outside it's front door which is unique for a side street. I've always wanted to check out this place Juilie's Snack Bar.

Great Montreal set. Shows such a rich, intriguing style to it in the downtown. Definitely one of the more unique cities in North America.

/\ But « he » gets to watch himself in a mirror, which is not bad.

I love the pic taken on the roof of the old Canadian Bank of commerce building. I lament the lost of that one on most contemporary skyline pics just as much of that of the Royal York. Two of the most majestic buildings in the country.

Midtown Skyline

Wow, nice.

Taken today, here's the every growing view of Midtown from one of the bridges above the Yonge subway. I love this view because you can clearly see the Yonge Eglinton Centre, and Yonge Street's canyon southward:

This is an informal angle from the next street north:

Any chance they'll take down that long white 5 floor building in front of the Alberta Legislature? It should be parkland.

As for beating New York, unless styles like Art Deco come back into play I don't see any North American or any other World city beating NYC with it's stockpile of every architectural skyscraper moment designs.
I suppose it depends on how one gauges a skyline. I also put a lot of weight on pre war skyscrapers and viewed them as an aesthetic never to be equaled again. Lately my stance on that has changed. Some of the modern skyscrapers being built are truly spectacular. I agree that most of what Toronto builds is quite boring but things seem to get better each passing year. One Bloor, 60 Colborne, The One....

There are some that will always put a skyline like Chicago or New York ahead based on their stockpile of art deco buildings. I used to be one of those people but I've changed my mind.

The Terrace Building is likely going to be around for another couple of decades, but long-term it is to be removed with the Leg grounds coming down towards the river and bridge.
