Global (and I assume CTV) were reporting that the 747 service reached the 100,000 passenger milestone.

the older part of the terminal which is pretty much empty most o the time - are they planning to do anything with it?

there is a tim hortons and a wok box down there which the few times i have been that way are dead - in fact my friend used the airport last month and he was in the newer part trying to find something to eat but didn't like the choices of chilis, quiznos etc and saw a guy with a wox box container and wondered where he got it and i said it's next to the tim hortons and he didn't even know there was a tim hortons past security, they really need to put some signange up to let people know there is a tim hortons down that way

Best I can find... Starting to get worried the colored window accents aren't actually coming. While better than the first rendering, this version of the hotel is still pretty disappointing overall.

^Looks that way to me too...

I don't understand how YEG awarded this smaller scale developer the right for the on-site hotel.

The developer had to sell one of their properties to free up cash for the Renaissance project.

And in the end, we end up with a half-xxx product!!!

Shame on YEG!!

This is salt on a wound, but just a few hundred km south of your Leduc-worthy box, another airport hotel nearing completion:

Just sayin', is all.

So you have a control Tower that is beautiful while the hotel looks like a Russian apartment.

Yup that is Edmonton.

YEG tower is simply one of the finest buildings in the Metro region period!

YEG Hotel so far is a pig. Waiting for lip stick though... so it can be a better looking pig!

P.S the skywalk from the terminal to this ?!%$#& has more style and presence.

It is going to need quite the facade to hide the air handling units on the roof - and major treatments to the building exterior and windows - as is it is the worst looking building developed in the Capital Region in the last 10 years. HOW EIA Board has allowed this to occur boggles my mind. Administrative incompetence???

Opening Oct 2013

RENAISSANCE EDMONTON AIRPORT
The most innovative and luxurious hotel Edmonton has seen is scheduled to open its doors in the Fall of 2013, marking a major milestone in the history of our fine city. Offering an experience that is unique to Edmonton, the Renaissance will offer top of the line features within our 213 guest rooms and banquet space to make any moment you have here last a life time.

INTRIGUING:
The Renaissance Hotel brings a spark to the Hospitality industry in Edmonton by offering the first product that is part of the physical airport. This offers an exciting new opportunity for Edmonton International Airport and Platinum Investments is excited to offer a one of a kind Hotel to compliment the Airports recent expansion.

The stunning Halo restaurant will rival any popular restaurant in the city and will uniquely feature live entertainment on the R Life stage situated in the open concept lobby. The grand staircase will take you to some of the custom designed 20,000 square feet of banquet space which will be showcased with the grand ballroom, thee choice for your next function.

INDIGENOUS:
Edmonton is a gem that sparkles all year round, even in the frigid temperatures the cultural capital of Canada features a rich culture filled with activities for locals and tourists to enjoy. The Renaissance plays off the culture of Edmonton by featuring aspects of the culture throughout the property putting emphasis on the mosaic of cultures that embrace the city of champions. Touring the Renaissance will allow you to experience culture while the icy color pallet and décor will warm your spirit.

INDEPENDENT:
Unlike any hotel Edmonton has ever seen and unlike any Renaissance the world has ever seen, the Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel stands alone as one of the greatest places to come in Edmonton. Whether a business traveler, a family going on vacation, or an Edmontonian looking for the next great scene or restaurant, the Renaissance has something for everyone.

Find out more about the hotel at flyeia.com.
