^ That's always been my least favourite angle as well (my favourite being Champlain Bridge angle). I think it's the asymmetry that bothers me. The skyline builds gradually from east to west and then just... drops. Instead of dropping off around Crescent, it would be cool if it tapered down more gradually all the way to Atwater, to more closely mirror what you see in the east.

Although the new buildings help a little.

Can you picture how absolutely pathetic our skyline was from the mountain view? Before the Drummond-Montagne gap was filled this year? The new buildings really help. the skyline now looks decent. A lot of work left to do west of Crescent, and sadly the 120m towers won't make too big a splash. I mean look at the 119m CCE, it really doesn't have an impressive height.

And as for the Gap between Le 1000 and PVM, only a 200-250m tower built over the Central Station parking lot can remedy this situation.

That's a very unflattering angle. Especially compared to those incredible shots earlier up the page.

Hence my blurb in the post "the minimalist angle"... it's the last unattractive view left of the Calgary skyline. There are currently two towers in the 220 - 250 meter range under construction which will fill that hole in the centre, and I think the curvature of Telus Sky will help make it a really neat view. The additional density UC in the East Village and NW Victoria Park should help to beef up the foreground and make The Bow less monolithically imposing as well.

That angle of Calgary always seems better to me from Inglewood down 9th ave where you see more.

What's all that empty-looking green space? Is it supposed to be parks?

I might be completely wrong here Nouvellecosse, but I think that is where the the water canal is buried or tunneled that leads from the top of the falls to the Sir Adam Beck Power Plant. A Niagara forumer would probably be able to answer this for certain though.
