Agreed. The medians really look awesome! It's amazing what those little touches can do, yet it's neglected on so many streets.

I've always loved Medians with those creeping vine things (25th st)
Great pics.
Do I have to post on a host website first and then link them to this site?
I have some great pics today of the amazing vibes and sites of Rotary park Sundays (and the bit of a public party we threw there today

Yes you will need a host website and then link them to this site. Here is a link to a Free Image Hosting Directory. Keeping in mind that this site is used for construction and development photos. We do stretch the rules from time to time but Ruckus has set up a photo forum for all other photos here Saskatoon and Area Photos.

In regards to the weather you can't beat it. I love the four distinct seasons. Your always looking forward to something and you always having something weather wise to complain about.

Does anyone know what exactly is being finished at the south end of Rotary?
Is it another 're-stabilization' project?

RE the Fire Piece: Maybe for the 99.9% of the time that no one is using it it could be etched with a board for chess/ checkers.

Thanks for the great photos, Jerry. I agree that the streetscaping along 3rd is coming along really nicely and I too appreciate the variety of trees installed. Makes the median far more interesting.

I really like the photos of Discovery Plaza that show the reflections of the heritage buildings across the street from it in its blue tinted windows. Very nice!

Looking forward to the completion of the 'water feature' down at river landing. As a person who runs along that trail and over that pedestrian bridge on a frequent basis, I can attest to the fact that it is often full of debris and garbage and definitely emits an odour at times. Getting this fixed up and 'beautified' will be a welcome sight!

A sewage lift station. Not too sexy, but necessary I guess.

They've begun paving the 21st - 22nd block of Third Ave with sweet, sweet black asphalt.

After about an hour and a half of debate and many speakers who got up, City Council approved the sale of Parcel 'Y' to Lake Placid for the stated price.

Councilors Clark and Lorje voted against the motion, all others were in favor.

By the way those trees look fantastic on 3rd avenue, the city needs to do that with every one of our downtown streets, great pics!, i always wonder about putting trees through out the highways around the city, anyone know if that is a possibility??

Payment for the land, I believe, must be made within 15 business days.

Then, Lake Placid has until November 1st to provide satisfactory documentation that demonstrates their financial ability to excavate the site, build the parking garage, and bring it to grade. At Council, Coun. Paulsen questioned the Nov. 1 date and why it's set so far back. The City Solicitor explained that they asked Lake Placid to suggest the deadline, and give a "worst case scenario" date, so Nov. 1 was put forward.

In his comments, Lobsinger made clear that Nov. 1 is just that - a worst case scenario - he intends to provide such documentation ASAP in order to move forward. Until then, I do believe he's free to do site prep on the land.

Pardon me, a correction to this explanation -

Lake Placid is not required to pay for the land 15 business days from now, but in fact 15 days from providing the financial documentation. So, at the latest, they might not be ponying up the 5 million and change until sometime in November.

Of course, Lobsinger has stated he intends to move it along much more quickly than that (a few weeks perhaps?). We'll have to wait and see...
