I remember when our province was paying down debt and had record oil royalties, I repeatedly said now is the time to invest in alternate energy, technology, etc. Build strength on top of strength. Instead we let arrogance and shortsightedness get in the way.

I assume that will be a crossing of their private rail spur off the CP mainline. Given the volume of railcars they will require on site, the tracks will be full of cars nearly all the time, so they will need a grade separation to cross.

It will most likely be built close to the tracks , a fair chunk of the GTH is sold

The big train track circle is the way new grain handling facilities work now. Much more efficient than shuttling cars back and forth.

Yes, the loop tracks are incredibly efficient, but use a lot of land. In many cases, they can bring a unit train and not even unhook the locomotives. They just slowly do a a loop filling several cars at a time and then head back out directly on to the mainline. The sketch is not entirely clear, but it appears they may be proposing a second connection to CN to the north.

Also you can see the grade separation on the upper east side.

To understand the scale of this thing, take at look at how tiny the semi trailers at Loblaws appear.

I am having trouble separating the facts from the politics. Does this mean the GTH as public investment has turned successful?

The short game on the GTH was full of problems, but the long-term outlook doesn't look bad at all. The death of just-in-time shipping should drive demand for warehouse space too.
