Yep! I haven't packaged it as an executable but it works within the editor with the HTC Vive. If I have time I'll try to post a video next week.

True, Sears is 1450' to the roof but it is a massive building. Tribune is incredibly thin which I could see how it would be hard to envision it in the skyline. Boy I hope this one gets built as planned...

Right, although Sears does get kind of narrow towards the top (75' by 150'). I'm not sure the dimensions of Tribune but it seems to be in the vicinity of that, perhaps a bit bigger.

The Sears Tower's main roof is about 1,430 or so. The box on the roof adds the last bit of height so I think Tribune tower will have an extremely similar impact to the top part of Sears.

Good point, if you remove the outer tube bundles you can picture what Tribune will look like.

The video stated there were 20,000 private sector jobs added to downtown in 2017.

Right, that seems pretty significant

Yep, and I think it's been like that per year for a little bit, and continuing. It'll be interesting to see what happens with this in regards to new residential, new office, etc buildings.

Right, which would be good news for this project.

As the video says it seems over ambitious and risky but in the right market (this one) could be pulled off.

Considering NYC has several buildings of this caliber (in development/existing/proposed) that are residential/mixed use you'd think Chicago could support at least one.

I believe it and check out this graphic from Crain's in January 2018:

From the article:

"New figures released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security indicate the total number of private-sector, unemployment-insurance-covered jobs in the city grew 168,000, or 16.6 percent, in the seven years ended in March. The expansion was concentrated in the Loop and the Near North, West and South Side areas adjoining it, where the total number of jobs leapt nearly a quarter. But the action also is showing signs of spreading into outlying neighborhoods."

Even though a big chunk of these are low-paying service jobs, that also means that a lot more people are using those services. And while I'm thrilled the core is booming, this is still very much a tale of two cities. Thousands of kids on the south and west sides grow up in traumatized, poverty-ridden neighborhoods where unemployment rates are over 20%, and in reality way higher bc so many people have dropped out of the job market. Likewise, so many people are convicted felons and simply can't get hired.

Any bets on when Reilly decides to block the hotel rooms here?

Not sure, but maybe the reason he did so at 400LSD was site specific... The article never mentioned.

As for approval hasn't this already been submitted? If so we should be hearing something soon.

Why that much? You never know, Vista grew taller. If I were the developer I would at least pass Sears. But I would still be happy with anything taller than Vista.

Where's our competitive spirit! I know we can't keep up with NY in shear volume but we need a 1500' footer for symbolic purposes, and soon!

Better yet be the first city in Western Hemisphere with 2000 footer. Your move NY!

It'd be nice.

At first I thought this was a pipe dream but after checking out Golub & Co's portfolio they have some serious projects under their belt. Much more reputable than the spire guy (Kelliher I think?)
