Even some builders like MRG (GolfFinch City), Rohan may also be planning to create such facilities. But these facilities may also be provided in a single building called IT Park. Undersea cable routes to enhance global competitiveness
According to the KDEM document, direct landing stations and subsea cable routes will provide low-latency, high-capacity international bandwidth, making the hub globally competitive for hyperscalers, cloud providers, and AI-driven enterprises.
Three cable route options have been proposed:- Middle East and Europe route: Oman/UAE → Mangaluru → onward to Chennai/Singapore, providing a direct low-latency path from West Asia and Europe, bypassing congested Mumbai landing stations.
- South East Asia extension route: Singapore → Colombo → Mangaluru → onward to Middle East/Africa, serving as a Bengaluru+1 backup for hyperscalers and routing traffic to Southeast Asia.
- Regional loop: Chennai ↔ Kochi ↔ Mangaluru, combining terrestrial and subsea connections for redundancy.
These routes aim to ensure robust and reliable connectivity for international data traffic, catering to global digital enterprises.

The blame game begins for Karnataka not getting google AI data center & semiconductor industries - M.B. Patil blames Centre’s incentives to Andhra Pradesh for Google setting up AI data centre in Visakhapatnam 2. It is interesting to note that this data center is a joint venture between google & Adani. Adani had a big plan for having a huge data center at readily available Yellur land (acquired for cancelled UPCL second stage expansion, land was in possession of Adani). But the current state government took away that land ensuring no project of Adani can come up there. And for semiconductor industries also it has so far showcased an unviable location instead of promoting more suitable Silicon Beach. Currently it has failed to come up with any plan for Yellur in particular & Silicon Beach in general except proposed Blueberry Hill IT Park. The state government seems to be ashamed to admit that marine cable link could have been easily made available in Silicon Beach but it has failed to do it so far.

Quote:
Mangalore is emerging as a potential data center hub due to its strategic coastal location, access to undersea cables, abundant renewable energy, and a growing talent pool. The Karnataka government is studying its potential, and plans are underway for a technology park to support this goal, including measures like single-window facilitation and subsidies for data centers under the state's progressive policy. These developments are part of a larger vision to establish Mangalore as a significant tech and innovation corridor, often referred to as the "Silicon Beach of India".
Key factors driving the hub's potential- Coastal Advantage: Mangalore's strategic coastal location provides direct access to international submarine cable routes, which is a significant advantage for data center connectivity.
- Renewable Energy: The region has access to a surplus of renewable energy, which is crucial for powering data centers and meeting sustainability goals.
- Talent Pool: Mangalore has a young and abundant talent pool with the necessary skills for next-generation data centers, especially those powered by AI and GPUs.
- Government Support: The Karnataka government is actively promoting Mangalore as a tech and data center hub through initiatives like the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM).
- Infrastructure Development: Plans are in place for new IT parks, including a large one under a public-private partnership, and efforts are being made to improve existing infrastructure like roads.
Government initiatives- Feasibility Study: A consultant has been appointed by KDEM to study the potential of establishing a global data center hub in Mangalore.
- Progressive Policy: The state government has a progressive data center policy that includes incentives like land subsidies and green energy incentives.
- Upcoming Technology Park: A technology park is planned for Mangalore under the Local Economy Accelerator Programme (LEAP) to provide the necessary infrastructure.
- Promotion: Mangalore is being promoted as a potential IT hub at events like the Bengaluru Tech Summit.

Approximately 50 plots of various sizes have been reserved for plastic manufacturing units. Of the 104 acres designated for the park, 60 acres will remain available for industrial use after allocating space for roads and other essential infrastructure. Plots have been prepared in sizes of 1 acre, 50 cents, and 25 cents.
Guest houses, hostels, and cafeteria construction have been completed. The remaining work includes the CIPET building, warehouse, and water tank, which are nearing completion. Apart from a few minor disputes, the project area is now largely free of litigation, and plot allocation will begin after receiving directions from the central office.

Bengaluru Techies, Would You Relocate To Mysuru Or Mangaluru For ₹50,000? Karnataka Govt’s Offer Explained 2
Don't worry Karnataka politicians & mafia. Andhra Pradesh has a better plan to reduce the burden of the monstrous city than Karnataka. I hope Andhra Pradesh will develop Nellore also as a Silicon Shore to reduce the load of the said city.

Karnataka’s Big Push Beyond Bengaluru: Can Mysuru, Mangaluru or Hubballi Become the Next Startup Magnet?

The Critics
Others, however, urged caution. Several voices argued that cities like Mysuru and Mangaluru should be protected from over-urbanisation. They feared the government might replicate Bengaluru’s challenges instead of solving them.
A strongly worded comment read:
“Don’t ever think about touching Mysore or Mangalore.”
This sentiment revealed a deep-rooted fear that rapid tech expansion could disrupt the cultural and environmental charm of these cities.

The government has already touched & spoiled Mangaluru with chemical industries when people here want environmentally more safer & harmless IT jobs. Check also discussions in the thread - COVID-19 Issues & Best Practices - Whether technology can help to overcome the crisis? - Post-1 & Whether technology can help to overcome the crisis? - Post-2.

The Realists
...
One major concern is whether Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities have the infrastructure needed to support rapid scaling. While they offer cleaner, calmer environments, not all have Bengaluru’s depth of office spaces, transport systems, talent networks or round-the-clock services — all crucial for tech-led growth.
|
No issue with office spaces in Mangaluru. Many buildings with readily available office spaces are lying vacant and more are under construction (I have already posted pictures of a few vacant buildings). More than one million sqft office spaces are under construction now like Mukund Ashoka Business Center (IT Park), Land Trades Synergy, Karuna Lightousehill IT Park, Bharath Central Semi-IT Park, Westline Salubrity Semi-IT Park, 3 floors of NorthernSky Old Fields etc. Proposed ones like KEONICS IT Park, Nidhiland Business Park, MRG Goldfinch IT Park, Westline Cubix IT Park, Rohan commercial buildings etc may generate more than anoter two-three million sqft of office spaces.

Talent mobility presents another challenge. Convincing employees to uproot from a city that offers countless opportunities, deep networks and lifestyle advantages will not be easy — even with relocation reimbursements.
|
More than 95% of Mangaluru-origin IT professionals are ready for #BackToOoru journey as per a recent survey - Software professionals concerned about salary, career growth in coastal Karnataka, not absence of nightlife: Survey. The quality of life in Mangaluru is far better than one in metrocities. Now a days all networks have gone digital.

Then comes the question of sustainable development. Cities like Mysuru and Mangaluru have rich cultural identities and slower, more mindful ways of life. Residents worry that a sudden surge in commercial expansion and population influx could alter their character in irreversible ways. Policymakers will need to design growth that respects heritage and local sentiment.

R Systems to make Mangaluru hub for key verticals, horizontals
Quote:
In an interaction with businessline in Mangaluru, Nitesh Bansal, Chief Executive Officer of R Systems, said: “When we look at the growth of the Agent AI as a horizontal, we see Mangaluru as being one of our key hubs and locations for that. When we look at verticals relating to BFSI and travel industries, we again see Mangaluru as being a key hub for that.”
