I agree with a lot your comments and appreciate your contributions to the board as someone who mainly reads and rarely comments. On top of that, the internet can be a terribly negative place. Having said all that, are we so quick to forgive Claridge for their crimes against Rideau Street and elsewhere in this city? I mean some of their newer buildings are still mediocre and middling at best. I just think we should strive for better still.

York Plaza (134 York St.) was put also put up by Claridge around the same time as EM1-EM2 were going up (2004).

I strongly agree. I'm always shocked at the amount of praise a mediocre tower like Claridge East Flats gets here. It feels like the community has been so thoroughly beaten down that there is exactly zero expectation of quality design and execution. The only Claridge build that's actually worthy of some praise is 1040 Somerset.

Claridge has set the bar so low that they get a standing ovation for drunkenly stumbling over top of it.

I had thought they were building the underground parking for both projects, with the focus on the Andaz extension first. But unless the underground garage is somehow above ground, it looks like we’re getting more than just the Andaz extension on York Street. Based on those above-ground pillars on George Street, it seems the residential tower on the George Street side of the lot is also moving forward as mentionned in the comment above.

Well, I attempted to upload an updated photo of the progress and clearly can't figure how to. Nor can I figure out how to delete this reply. :S

Welcome!

I usually use https://postimages.org/ lately to post images.

For example, here's your photo hosted on that site:

Great shot!

Here's the Forum Help guide. First post is on uploading images: https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=246386

Basically have to go through an external image hosting site like Imgur or Postimages, get the forum share link, and then post.

I personally post on Skyrise Ottawa first, because it's easier, than repost here.

Yeah. Going up pretty quickly too.

Glad to see the back has a void to leave more space between building. Slightly less terrible than Rideau.

I added the height of 70 meters to the title based on the old Andaz thread title:

Andaz Hotel [325 Dalhousie St] | 56.3m/70m | 15fl/23fl | Phase 1 complete

As most of you may remember, this tower was proposed with the first Andaz in 2013 and stayed dormant until recently. I will remove this tower from the original Andaz thread title.

The original render had a lot of glass and some random red accents on the balconies it seems, wonder if that's still the case or if this is also being dumbed down like what happened with Andaz.

I hope recent Claridge projects are an indication of what we can expect; decent materials and execution.
