Heritage? None of the three buildings in question is/was on the heritage register.

Vanmap is saying that that large building on the corner that was demolished was built in 1935. The narrow building next door with the sushi restaurant that was also demolished was built in 1909. The remaining building with the donut shop is listed a being built in 1989.

The parkade next door was built in 1989. A quick look at the exposed side wall of the old building tells its 100+ years old. Most notably are the second floor windows that were closed off when the building next door was constructed in the 30's and the brick construction (not cinderblock) under crumbling stucco.

Fine by me, just makes the economics easier to knock it down in about 50 years and build a taller tower on the block!

Will make great filler for the next several decades though.

50 years from now, huh? Well, we will all be looking forward to that then.

But it looks like it was approved at 10 floors - so that's consistent with 9 glazed and one balcony floor.

The building is 1 floor of retail/service rooms and 9 floors of office with a roof top deck that encompasses about half the roof.

By the way, the Tower Crane went up over the weekend and there is concrete being poured, does that not classify this one as U/C.

Just three weeks since the crane went up and the elevator core is already well established. This one's moving along fast.

Thanks for the update. That doesn't seem like a lot of progress for 23 days.

It is well above ground and rising now. A little hard to see behind the hoarding.

Two weeks later. I wanted to post a couple of long shots so I can come back to them in about a year and do a before and after.
