Main Logo

Logo for 100 Year Anniversary Celebrations (which happened this year)

A new logo that was created for the City, but was later not used because of criticism that it looked like a thong. Remains the logo for the Timmins Economic Development Corporation.

Logo from our neighborhood as part of a very successful revitalization campaign in an old area of central Edmonton.

Most businesses and many residents in our area display these signs to show support for the community.. one of many initiatives that have helped turn our area from one riddled with crime and disorder into one of Edmonton's funky and cool arts and culture communities

One more from the island of Newfoundland. Formerly our second largest city (it didn't shrink so much as suburban communities near St. John's grew), it is currently our fourth largest: Corner Brook.

It is located on the beautiful, mountainous west coast of N.L. - very near the fjords of Gros Mourne National Park.

You can see them at 1:15 in this video:

In my opinion, Newfoundland and Labrador puts out the best tourism ads that I have seen in Canada. They kinda blow everyone else out of the water.

Ottawa and Gatineau have strangely complementary logos:

The National Capital Commission's logo has a circle of 10 solid maple leaves for each of the provinces and three outlined ones for the territories, visually they form a "C" for Capital:

Sadly, they are trying to brand the National Capital Region with this rather bland generic logo:

^^ The way they get both the English and French in it is pretty subtle though.

Well might as well :B

Regina's old logo. The right side is a variation to promote the "I Love Regina" campaign.

Regina Red Sox of the WMBL

Logo, with the coat of arms for the University of Regina

Logos for the UoR sports team. And before you ask, the Rams name only applies to the university's football program

Saskatchewan Roughriders: Old -left- and New -right-.

Regina Pats

Harbour Landing Neighbourhood in Southwest Regina.

Warehouse District in Downtown Regina

Edgewater Neighbourhood in Northwest Regina

I'll post more later :o

That video was beautiful.
St.Jogn's is a wonderful city and Newfoundland is magical. My obly regret about visiting there 2 years ago was that I returned to BC.

Colony of Newfoundland

Up to 1870:

Dominion of Newfoundland

Up to 1931:

Province of Newfoundland

Up to 1980:

Province of Newfoundland

Up to present day:

*****

Separate National/Republican/Ethnic flag, which is flown as much if not more than the provincial flag above:

A song from 1902 explains the colours:

The pink, the rose of England shows,
The green St. Patrick's emblem, bright
While in between, the spotless sheen
of Andrew's cross displays the white.

Then hail; the pink, the white, the green,
Our patriot flag' long may it stand.
Our sirelands twine, their emblems trine,
To form the flag of Newfoundland!

I've heard that outside of St. John's it's hard to find the tricolour anywhere.

I kind of like it (see my sig).

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. It's taken on a separatist connotation these days - there are certainly lots of people who fly it and love it who are proud Canadians, but it is more associated with separatism than it used to be.

The political divide between St. John's (where most the 48% NO vote to join Canada was located) and rural Newfoundland (where most of the 52% YES vote to join Canada was located - and with well over 100% voter turnout in some districts, ha!) manifests itself in everything - even the modern political landscape (Liberal in Rural areas, Conservative/NDP/ANYTHING but Liberal in St. John's, whichever one is most pro-Newfoundland at that given time).

So, yes, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see the tricolour anywhere that's red on this map (but remember, the blue areas accounted and still account for the majority of the province's population):

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't get this:

We paid about $250,000 for what essentially amounts to a heap of generic rubbish. Having Chakma and his crew in charge of UWO is sort of like having the Ostrogoths in charge of Rome: no matter how competent they may be as administrators, things are going to end badly. The old one looked like, you know, an actual university logo:

Compare and contrast to Fanshawe College:

Now on to the rest of London...

City's logo isn't too bad, for some reason it has always reminded me of the White Tree of Gondor:

Standard colonial coat of arms. If we wanted this to be accurate, the deer would be getting hit by a car while city council argues about what to do about it:

The ever-loved London Knights hockey team:

And the generic-but-decent logo for the local hydroelectric company, London Hydro:

I guess the International Airport logo is also OK. The Canadian maple leaf subtly reminds you that you should not be flying out of Detroit:

The tastefulness ends here. Here we have the London Transit logo, clearly designed by someone with a ruler and two crayons:

The London Public Library, which for some reason has a stylized child superimposed on a Galaxy:

I'm sure this was clipart from a 1990s version of Microsoft Publisher:
