Not very many. Between two and five I think.

Almost topped out. There will be about a 1 and 1/2 floor "fence" or whatnot above the top floor to hide the HVAC stuff. This is what I mean:

8-15-09 - This is from the other side of the city. It really stand out at a number of different angles.

The Vue has topped out for the most part. They are adding the "fins" along the top, between which there will be a "fence" that surrounds the rooftop HVAC/equipment. (The "fins" and "fence" are shown in a rendering a couple of posts up the page).

From Monday:

This building is now a victim of the recession. The general contractor stopped work at the 51-storey high-rise at 12:01 this morning, due to non payment for the past two months. If Donald Trump is still interested in buying a project in Charlotte, this is a good one to buy. Did it top-out this week? I know it was close to topping-out? If someone can, please share a photo of it in the skyline and an update on how much of the tower is enclosed in glass.

Not sure what to make of the halt. A few are saying it may be a week or two until a few technicalities are worked out. Others say the contractor is doing a bit of grandstanding. The owner is downplaying it as a minor hiccup to be corrected soon. Who knows.

Th building as topped out in the sense that the top floor has been poured. Now they are working on the part that surrounds the HVAC/mechanical floor.

I was hoping it was further along. I do believe it is far enough along to be completed by someone in the future. The extremes, including removing their sign, appears to be grandstanding, but he is doing what he has to do to get noticed in a time when this is common (to receive payment). After two months, and I'm sure two months of long talks and arguments, I would expect some time to pass before construction resumes. This is one of my favorite buildings in Charlotte and I would like to see it completed soon, instead of following the same path as The Park Building. I'm sure locals will see to it this is completed. It's too big on the skyline to remain abandoned.

It is too far along to not be completed, if that makes any sense. It may be the original developer, or a bank, or a bank selling to another developer. What I've heard is that it will probably be delayed several months, but the good news is that it was around 4 months ahead at this point to being with. The building is structurally topped out. Units up to around the 20th floor are completely finished. Units up to about the 30th floor are at least partially finished. Glass is up to around the 42nd floor (out of 50) I think. At this point, around around 50% to 60% of the units are under contract.

After about a month delay, work is to resume on this tower now that financing has been worked out that the contractors have been paid. From Charlotte Observer

That's great news. I am actually surprised it started back so soon!

Indeed. Crews are supposed to be back on site as soon as mid-month. The shorter of the two tower cranes was taken down last week. This was planned in advance, as the tower has officially topped out.

Good to hear, especially amid all that has gone wrong with development during this economy.

Saw this thing the other day. I hadn't seen it for a while, and hadn't noticed how tall it's gotten. Glad to hear they're back to work

I was concerned nothing would happen until around December. It's good to see workers returning. I was told a Charlotte based bank, to my surprise, was the lender bringing the project to a stop.

Activity is back and work should begin again next week.

Here you can see the large "spires" on top. A "fence" or wall will connect them, about 2/3 of the way up, enclosing the HVAC units on the roof.

Heard today that the checks are not clearing the bank and that some of the contractors pulled off of the job today. Does anyone know if this is true?

That's old news. There was a month long stoppage but funding issues have been corrected and work is resuming on the site.
