It is. I've been using the D850 for seven years, so it was time to upgrade. I needed a true hybrid camera for video shoots.

I remember the D40x. It was a big deal at the time. I was using the Nikon D200 in those days.

It's worth it for professional photographers, I've been through four cameras, and now I've been using a Pixel 8 Pro instead. I'm not sure it's easy to tell the difference for most people, the convenience is great, since I always have it with me. I miss some features of a real camera, but I also felt that way with the switch to digital way back, the absence of quick manual adjustment. Your photos are beautiful, but I'm guessing you also do some post processing on your photos?

Thanks. I shoot in RAW, so every photo gets a pass through Lightroom for resizing. I usually do some colour adjustments and may add some contrast or vignetting. Overall, I do a minimal amount of editing.
My general rule of thumb is if it takes more than a couple of minutes do edit a photo, it probably isn't a good photo to begin with.

Well I use a Samsung Galaxy S24, lol. Just the regular phone, not the Ultra. Ultra has the better lenses.

Damn beautiful evening.

Still much cooler than normal, but few complaints,.as it has been calm and sunny. Very pleasant weather and still warm enough.

Some flowers in our yard, shot on a Pixel 8 Pro. (Haven't used a DSLR in years, though many times I wished I had it with me )

Smokey AF here Sunday-yesterday.

Nice to have the real heatwave done and back to semi-normal temps, but a nice bit of warmth coming back end of week.

22C in Moncton at 11 AM, and, as usual, sunny. The drought continues. A high of 26C is expected later this afternoon.

Saturday was windy and so unpleasant at the beach. Next two days were very nice.

Mushroom harvest way down this year due to the drought. But my MIL is like a water diviner, but for mushrooms. Her fungi senses direct her to places no one else would know to go (private property without permission, but so expansive that the owner has no idea). These two batches were found in the exact same spot one day apart despite no rain occurring in between.

New tool in the arsenal of wood splitting tools. Bought it for under half price from some guy on facebook. Hopefully lasts for quite a while.

Insects definitely still out in force. And my daughter got stung on her ankle while on the hammock. So you know it was gonna be blood bath after we patched her up. They also ruined a couple of our drinks. The other insects that eat dead insects are having a feast right now. There must be a good 200 bee/wasp carcasses on the ground right now that still need to be scavenged. You're welcome.

40.0 in Lytton today.

All time September high for BC, and tied for all time Canadian high for September.

Also 39 in Ashcroft.

Heat north of the 50th parallel in September has nothing to do with what you would experience in June/July/mid August.

Lytton only had 7 hours above 30C. And it's below 30C now that the sun has set.
Also warmed up above 20C only after 9AM.

Don't get me wrong, fire risk is there but it's definitely not as extreme as you would think it is for a 40C high at this time of the year.

Also, here are the August 2025 stats for Canada.

Osoyoos had one afternoon that only reached 25.

So through July and August only one day wasn't a pool day.

Well, to be fair, at 10pm the temperature is still 27.4, so its not as if it gets cold after sundown in Lytton even during a September heatwave, and last night was only 5 hours below 20, and even then the official low was 17.0, so still pretty mild for September in Canada. Its not like Lytton dips down to near freezing or something during the night.

Yeah, if it were June or July the low would have likely been above 20 on such a hot afternoon day, but a high of 40.0 with a low of 17.0 its still pretty intense for Canada in September.

21C and mostly sunny in Moncton at 11 AM, going up to 26C this afternoon.

We exceeded our expected daily high yesterday. It got up to 29C. It still feels like summer out.

I haven't mowed my lawn in about six weeks because of the drought. Despite this, my lawn remains halfways green. This is because I have so many trees on my property the lawn remains shaded.

Long range forecast is for continued sun and dry weather, This is important as my youngest son is getting married in Halifax on Saturday. They expect to do wedding photos in the Public Gardens.

No one is disputing how impressive the heat is. I was replying to the message saying it could burst into flames referring to June 2021.
With 3 hours less sunshine now than in late June the fire risk is not that extreme. Still very high but the sun angle at this time of the year matters.

Smoky and gross again. Supposed to hit 30 today but I doubt it will with this nasty haze...

After a smoke-free summer, Metro Vancouver is getting its first real taste of it this year. Very smoky out there. I can't see the North Shore mountains from Mount Pleasant.
