Please let this happen! The 1100 block of Chestnut is so much livelier after the Brickstone project, and this proposal would only magnify the vibrancy of the block!

This would draw eyes up from street level and show of the remaining original elements. The current plan feels tacked on.

As I said though, I'm still very happy with the project as a whole. Just nitpicking.
I feel it is necessary for me to see a larger image in order to suggest improvements. I suspect they could have easily used some transitionnel éléments complimenting the original façade in the new one. However, I can definitely see that your evaluation isn't nitpicking, rather you are quite right.

Going to need some popcorn for The Royal meeting. No chance they don't tee off.

I don't sense any huge groundswell of opposition to this from residents, but sure the CDR board will have a thing or two to say. We'll see.

Update at the former Omega Pizza site. This is actually a pretty big project. A large crane made an appearance this AM and they are beginning to install steel.

And across the street - the former L2 Building has been fully renovated with 4 units and the Starbucks is open for business.

^^^NE corner of 22nd and South - former Omega Pizza. Used to be single rowhome and a parking lot - this building will take over most of those combined properties.

5 Stories, 20 apartments. Approved by CCRA despite the design being a bit lame.

While I am always happy to hear about new units being added around the Delaware River waterfront, I hope that this development will not prevent something with a higher density from being placed on the property in the near future. That huge surface parking lot needs to be replaced with something similar to One Wooder Street!

Also, while adding density along Girard Avenue is always a great thing, it seems like such a missed opportunity to not include any commercial uses. With the way that Francisville and Templetown have been building, the stretch of Girard from Broad to 18th would seem like a good area for some storefronts. The closest commercial corridor north of Girard is Cecil B. Moore Avenue, and the closest corridor south of Girard is Fairmount Avenue. At least the lack of retail along Girard will help build up Cecil B. Moore, and, according to my observations, eventually build up a revitalized commercial corridor along Susquehanna Avenue.

A bit of news on the restaurant taking over the former Cosi space at 15th and Locust:

http://philly.eater.com/2017/4/21/15384318/stephen-starr-honeygrow-alice-cosi-15th-and-locust

Unclear whether Starr will be involved with the new restaurant or just sold the liquor license to whatever owners/developers who are. And is not otherwise involved in the project. Locust is generally filling in. The Versailles continues its renovation (slowly) and has indicated with signs that a tenant was obtained for its retail space. A spa opened up a few doors down after 16th, and Usona is soon opening on 17th. Looks like they may be outfitting some space in Parc Rittenhouse for some retail on the Locust side. Nice to see. There are some vacancies still in the Locust blocks between 15th and the Square.

I found a cool piece in Hidden City about a Buddhist/Cambodian temple being built in Kingssesing. It's incredible this is getting built in Philly in 2017, and it will be a real cultural asset. I had no idea we had such a vibrant (and clearly thriving) Cambodian community. here is the article and some pics: http://hiddencityphila.org/2017/04/khmer-monastery-in-kingsessing-enlightens-the-schuylkill/

Very cool! I was in Cambodia last year and this looks like it could have been shipped over from Siem Reap. The diversity of this city continues to amaze me.
