Wow, great find. I know it's just a placeholder rendering, but five buildings on that scale would be spectacular (35-40 floors each).

Interesting to see that they're willing to sell off the lot in parcels. I'd imagine the huge asking price for the whole thing is an obstacle except for a handful of deep pocketed developers. Probably isn't as much demand for the parcel that's entitled for office space, too.

Nice designs, but too many driveways.

Agreed, it has a very suburban layout, especially with the large driveway by Parcel B.

Sorry for the snark......and I know this isn't the final design.....but LA needs to stop paying homage to the car esp in DTLA. This is a city hotel.....does it really need a grand automobile entry? You want to do that crap do it in Century City or the suburbs.

I'm getting a warning too. Anyone want to grab the images and repost?

Here we go.

By the way, everyone who is up in arms over the car accommodations should keep in mind that this is just placeholder architecture. These renderings are just meant to show scale. Whatever wants up going on the Metropolis property in real life will not likely resemble what we see in this rendering, although the Parcel B tower would be pretty sick.

I also can't imagine that anyone would want to build 400,000 square feet of office space in Downtown LA right now. Current market conditions don't come remotely close to justifying it. The Wilshire Grand is of course an exception due to unique circumstances.

Thanks, blackcat! I'm actually not too turned off by the auto entrances and courts. Sure, it could be more urban, but the street itself looks lively enough. The architecture - while I know it's filler - isn't terrible, but is somewhat forgettable. But I love the density. Hopefully we see something like this that's somewhat more well-thought out from a pedestrian standpoint. But so far I think this is a good start.

Sigh...

If there were ever something we didn't need at that intersection, it's a parking structure. There are over half a dozen public parking structures within a two block radius of 9th and Hope.

Wow. Something even worse than six story wood frame. Is there any way the planning commission can say no to this?

Wow. I don't understand. With vacancy rates what they are and rents rising quickly why would they not want to build a residential building?? Terrible.

Also, has anyone seen the curbed post about the Spring Street Park? I'm not at all a fan from the pictures. There is way too much concrete and the fences really kill any sort of pedestrian vibe. I doubt it's going to get much use. Whoever plans our parks needs to check out Brigham Yen's post about what makes an urban park successful.
