It doesn't look they're ready to top-off in a couple days. I don't see any sign of the crown up there yet, other than some rebar sticking up somewhat randomly.

This is a common contemporary look in higher end cabinetry these days. I guess there is a retro modern look to it when I think of it, but still updated to today.

I'm going to be out of town for the next few days, so I will miss the top-off.

Have they stated what day it will top off? I will be out of town next week; and have to be in the office on Friday.

I'm sure it's very much today's "thing" but in about 5 years I bet it looks very much like yesterday's thing.

If you look at what I posted above, Socketsite was saying last night the ceremony is tomorrow. That might mean they are a little behind schedule if they had to sched the mayor or some other dignitary expecting to actually have the top floor poured by tomorrow because as several people have said it doesn't look like they could possibly get it done by then. As to when they will, that's got to be weather dependent, wouldn't you say?

In honor of the Big Day tomorrow, here is a bunch of 301 Mission photos.

Detail of the floors still without glass.

This view illustrates the relationship between the main tower and the mid rise.

Close ups of the topmost floor and the crown:

I admit to taking childish delight in the name of this manufacturer of cement pumpers.

Crane operators always like to relax, it seems.

It is a lovely beast. You kind of lose it a little bit in the skyline as oppossed to OneRincon because its off by itself....

I am guessing what you see there will be part of the crown, as seen in the new poster they've put up.

"San Francisco lives here." Wish I did.

Another perspective from earlier today. This is from a semi-clean window of a nearby building, so some detail is lost.

My contribution to the big "topping-off" fiesta.

I had to quickly step into traffic for this and didn't have time to frame it so the cables were out of the way. Sorry about that.

With a little piece of my building in there too:

I love how slender it is from this angle:

And I can't forget the midrise:

A couple shots from today's Chronicle:

Quote:
A concrete bucket with a ceremonial tree inside is raised above the San Francisco skyline on its way to the top of Millennium Tower, the 60-story luxury residential tower on Mission Street between Fremont and Beale streets, during a ceremonial "topping off" event Friday afternoon. The event celebrated the completion of vertical construction at 645 feet, higher than any residential building west of the Mississippi River. Photo by Laura Morton, special to the Chronicle

peanut gallery, your photo of reality is starting to look more like the rendering on the first page of this thread.

Has anyone paid close enough attention to guess how long it will take them to finish the remaining stories worth of glass?

From Alameda and Treasure Island, it is surprisingly visible on the skyline.

This is the tallest building to be topped out west of the Mississippi in 10-15 years
