I've actually always liked the Aquatic Centre in Vancouver, but LOL at the Butterdome building. Damn that's ugly.

Montreal's fugly defenders. These brutes could definitely hold their own in a match against Clockzilla. I had the displeasure of seeing them in person last fall. You have the amazing Basilique and then right next to it commie blocks straight out of the USSR with oversized radio towers stacked on top of them.

It's a cool photo. Don't let it fool you. Without that night time Barbara Walters lighting it's a drab and post apocalyptic looking pair of prison compound commie blocks. The rooftop radio tower is just the cherry on top.

They are fugly by day. There is a rather neat neighborhood rising behind them: a windy, dead-end road (Ave Ridgewood) up the slope of Mont Royal, with mid-rise and high-rise apartment buildings all the way along.

They're ugly, but not aggressively so. I wouldn't block their construction here. There's enough glass to stave off the bunker look.

not a fan of top heavy designs. I'd call these dated rather than ugly. Some white paint could do wonders.

I was getting Fountain Tire ads aplenty for awhile. Never did I search for Fountain Tire (nor for any other Tire retailer). As banal as these ads were, they are still far better than sniffling Ellen or crying/lying Oprah, or the famous milfy mother that makes $491 per hour working from her home!

The former porn cinema/CBC Radio building. It's supposed to become the Marconi condos but it's taking forever, probably cancelled.

How cheap our inter-war suburbia can look.

EDIT:

One other. There are still a handful of houses surviving from the old Central Slum in St. John's, ones that were JUST good enough for our standards of the time to not be condemned and demolished. You can generally tell them by the style of windows in their roofs. I don't know ANY of the terminology, but they stand out compared to the style everywhere else.

Anyhow, learned something new about these via a friend who almost bought one.
