The FNA N plant is a very much a long shot. They need to raise another $1.62B! It would be tough for the Government to give them money as Yara has wants to expand the existing plant next door. Picking winners and losers is expressly contrary to the Government's policy.

Further their stated goal is to drive down the price of N for farmers. That is a tough business model.

Great news! I noticed it stated one the reasons was close to 2 railways and logistics infrastructure and roadways. The gth fits in there nicely.

Regina School Board has decided to rebuild Connaught school at it's current site. A proposal was put forward to build the new school in Les Sherman Park at the corner of 15th & McTavish but the school board determined it was too difficult to get the permits, sewer & water lines, upgrade the streets and shore up the land, as it's currently listed as a flood plain. They would also have to do a Land Swap with the City and the City is not interested in a piece of land with a building on it - the School Board would have to level the old school in order for the City to accept it.

In short: Fantastic idea, hard to do, school board is super lazy and cheap and would rather just stick with status quo.

On a side note, I personally hope that the school board decides to build the new school father south on the property (in the current playground) to get the building away from noisy & dangerous 13th ave. As a bonus I think this would speed up construction as they wouldn't have to wait for demolition of Connaught before starting the new construction.

Seeing the kids running around and playing directly beside a street notorious for speeders and impatient Lewvan-users trying to get downtown always scared me a bit, even though there's chain link fencing separating the two. On top of it all it's noise pollution and makes for an undesireable playground experience.

That's not really the playground. The baseball diamonds and open field area would be near 13th, yes, and those are rarely used. The playground structures that the kids play on are next to the building, and if the building is farther south the little kids will be kept farther south.

I guess as an alternative if they turned the building 90 degrees so that it faced 13th avenue, it would act like a sound berm and protect the playing area behind it from the noise of 13th. That's a decent alternative.

Knowing the school board though they'll just build it exactly where it is now with no changes to save money.

They'll build it at a 45-degree angle so it takes up even more space and reduces playground area.

I don't hate the school board at all. That was a comment on how a poor placement would be horrible.

Sorry, it was really Danomyte's comments, rather than yours, but your response to him seemed somewhat negative towards the board also. These people are in tough with this school and no matter what their decision, they'll have targets on their backs.

Hatred is much too strong of a word. All I'm saying is that there are far too many accountants on the board and not enough creative thinkers.

Revitalization benefits of Regina’s new stadium hinge on redevelopment of Taylor Field, academic says

It’s touted as the signature piece in the largest development in Regina’s history, with supporters predicting it will spur a sweeping transformation of the north core area.

But a University of Regina instructor says the city’s $278-million stadium and future home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders can live up to its expectations as a driving force of revitalization only if a new neighbourhood at the Taylor Field site provides opportunities for residential and commercial development.

“It would be a bit of a shame if it didn’t include some mixed-use (developments), whether there was a combination of … some workspace, some amenities like food services … that would be available to residents,” said Bruce Anderson, instructor of strategy and entrepreneurship at the U of R’s Paul J. Hill School of Business.

The current Mosaic Stadium site is in a mostly residential area, with no nearby amenities and few commercial buildings. The planned development at that site is expected to boast 700 housing units, as well as an unspecified number of commercial developments.

“It will attract more investment, more people,” Mayor Michael Fougere said of the plan, which forms part of the expansive Regina Revitalization Initiative.
Anderson points to the location of the new stadium at Evraz Place as an exciting opportunity to transform the area into a full-fledged sports and entertainment district that would also lure residents and businesses to the nearby Taylor Field neighbourhood.


I wondering who is the design team for the redevelopment of this area , in a few years the whole area could be totally amazing giving it's approximate location to the central core , business like chapters , the cactus club grocery stores could really transform that whole strip of land

I doubt Chapters would go in there. They expanded too fast with brick and mortar stores and have been struggling the last few years, esp with online competition. But I get your point.

The building in the parking lot of the Gardiner Park strip mall now has walls up. Is that medical office space?
