You kidding? Gawd I would kill for quality like that in downtown LA. In fact, may is suggest swapping your developer with our favorite, Geoffrey Palmer. He can indulge the SF skyline with fantasy Tuscan fortresses, complete with street-level brick sloped walls. I suggest you send your developer our way, and then we can send our best your way.

Hurry, this Palmer offer only lasts until midnight October 15. If you don't respond to this offer, you will miss out on your own stucco turret feature* on your Market Street Italian reproduction villa.

*turret feature limited to stock on hand, valid only until Oct. 15, 2015. Turret feature stands only 14' tall if and only if you choose our Siena corner suite. Call 1-800-LUV-STUCCO for more details.

^Well, we all have different tastes. But, man, I googled that guy and that's some hideous stuff. Please don't send him up here. Maybe overseas somewhere (though that wouldn't be good for foreign relations).

Dogpatch

few things from Dogpatch... first, not too much to see yet at Third and 23rd St. here viewed from the 'back', looking at the SW corner

and, it looks like demolition for this 323-unit project is underway on Indiana. looking north

this backs right up on the freeway - the retaining wall is visible through the building's shell:

looking back south with some neighborhood context

and of course this is just down the street from this project, which is just coming up out of the ground:

east SOMA

update from the eastern SOMA area goings-on...

the hotel across from the ballpark on King

72 Townsend. to me, the Colin P Kelly alley side (here) is its best, with the balconies providing nice texture.

future Splunk on Brannan. not too much to see yet

DropBox down the street on Brannan

the Stanford Alley side

Thanks for all the updates, timbad. It's amazing how few visible reminders are left from the Central Freeway in Hayes Valley. That scar has almost completely disappeared.

101 Polk

Not bad, but I was fairly underwhelmed by it. NEMA, on the other hand, is already showing its age from cheap materials, particularly on the taller tower. I retract anything good that I had to say about it in the past!

101 Polk is serviceable, nothing flashy but not trashy either. It doesn't stand out among other buildings, and it is no insult to say that's a good thing.

view guy - welcome back from the dark side. I got a good chuckle from your post about NEMA.

view guy, fflint, It is a good thing that 101 Polk is not fussy & has dignity as it is seen from the Civic Center & is a good neighbor to the greys there.

I like it too, hoping it will actually be that good, that white, and built with quality non-porous materials that age well.

1500 Mission Street at South Van Ness Street

Initial image of what the building might look like. Interesting.

Socket Site claims that the Coca Cola art Deco tower will be incorporated into the complex. I find that surprising. I presumed it would be torn down.

The corner of Mission & So. Van Ness is a horrendous traffic mess during the day. I wonder how the tenants will deal with it.

It's supposed to be about 40 floors (I've seen both 40 and 39 quoted).

Agreed. I'd call it a sturdy, handsome building. Perfectly fine.

Academy of Art Bldg. and 101 Polk St.

When 101 Polk was built it hid about 75% of the mural on the Academy of Art building (the former Automobile Association). I'm happy to see at least part of it has survived! The Academy knew a high rise was coming but painted the mural there anyway.
