I agree. Our Downtown being stretched from East to West, it looks most impressive from the Northeast and Southwest.

Yep! Downtown on the right, Metrotown in the centre, and Brentwood on the left

I was driving from Niagara Falls to St. Catharines this morning and I could clearly see Toronto so I stopped and snapped a pic with my point-and-shoot. Brutal quality but was the best I could do at the time. Normally the air quality isn't good enough to see the Toronto skyline from here, approx. 70km away.

Is that pre Pearl tower, or is that one just too far to the right to make the picture?

Skyline of North York, Toronto, from Ontario Highway 401

It was very clear skies today. I could easily make out the hotels at Niagara Falls from the control tower at Pearson this morning. Unfortunately I didn't have a decent camera with me or else I would have gotten some great snaps.

North York Looks Futuristic....!!!!

Hell, even the Highway looks brand new, and that's saying something considering how badly roads are beat up on these parts. Lol!

I wonder if American tourists, when driving on the 401 to Algonquin Park or wherever they're going, think that the North York skyline is the downtown Toronto skyline?

I was at Yonge and Eglington and it took a moment to figure out which way downtown. Downtown and North York seemed about as far away and almost as impressive.

Yeah exactly! What I meant was that it would be an easy mistake to make if you didn't know better. Also, looking forward to that new huge tower at Eglington getting built. That will elevate that skyline to another level both height-wise and aesthetically.

In terms of population Toronto's not a megacity (yet), but I think it's reached the point where its skyline would leave you thinking different.

In 3 years or so, when the Golden Horseshoe passes 10 million, I will definitely not hesitate to consider Toronto a mega city. The geographic area of the GH is smaller than many mega cities, and is just as interconnected as a lot of them(GO Train, GO Bus, extensive highway network, etc). I think it should qualify, but that's just me.

I think once GTHA surpasses 10M it should qualify. The inclusion of Niagara and KW is pushing it imo.
