I love this triple tower project...but it has an ugly ass.
That new 8-storey apartment building that may be proposed for Rainnie Drive will help conceal the parking garage, but the police site redeveloping would obviously produce a better result.

This morning:

The backside of the leftmost tower is kind of ugly from this angle (unfortunately I didn't get a good shot of it.) The centre tower looks more balanced. Parking structure seems topped out.

Yeah its ugly but this exactly where parking garages should be placed, in my opinion .... In the centroid of a block area so that it can be hidden from the public realm when future development eventually wraps around it.

A photo from Andy Fillmore's Twitter stream. The new retail across the street will complement these buildings nicely, and there are plans to eventually put in more residential towers on the other side of Cogswell.

I think the architects came up with a very good balance of glass and brick. It has turned out to look much better than the architectural renderings.

Just thought I'd bump up this conversation. As far as I know, there has still been virtually no information released about this property: when it will be available for occupancy; when property owner GWL Realty will begin marketing the units. There is still no mention of the property among GWL's Halifax holdings on their website. Considering that other developers routinely market before they even break ground, it strikes me as surprising that so little information is out there on this one. Have I missed something?

I agree it turned out much better than I thought. At first I thought I was not going to like the finishes when it was being done and seemed to just be floor after floor of red brick, but the glass and brown pre-cast on the set back portion actually balances it off moderately well.

New retail across the street? Really? Where? Where did you read about that? The buildings across the street are these closed up apartment towers with concrete frontage...

The retail additions are something to look forward to...but a total redevelopment of these three towers, possibly reconfiguring into two or one, reaching 20-storeys or so, would have been so. much. better.
