Hm. You are right. Well, I built them according to LEGO Architecture instructions, so maybe those buildings are not to scale. Or it could be that they were never intended to be to scale.

Actually, the Landmark Series of LEGO Architecture has a common scale. Or at least they tend to. ART does that on purpose when designing them and, IMO, does a pretty good job at it too. Perhaps they just have to be modified when they are enlarged to your scale, though

Not sure I understand what you're asking... They're really small, though. Maybe JSR would have a better idea than me of what scale they might be.

Hey Spencer, what's that building to the left of the Citigroup Center? I've noticed it in some photos for awhile but I never thought of asking till now.

Looks like and old building from either Chicago or New York....? Is it 20 Exchange Place?

I have been taking advantage of some free time to expand my new LEGO Architecture White House. Take a look:

Here it is. It was on page 32. But I do think it's cool, though!

My newest LDD model! It's of jsr's 7 WTC and goes with the rest of the plaza and towers models for the WTC that I have available to download here.

Note that I had to substitute the 4x8 brown wedge plates with a few other pieces as the 4x8 wedges don't exist in LDD's LEGO Universe Mode.

Thanx for the extra pics Spencer!

This is so awesome. I can't believe I missed this lego skyline thread.

I'm always looking at the Lego city buildings. So cool.

I took this pic at the Victoria Annual model railroad show this October.

I'll keep an eye on this thread...plus I wanna go back and relook at some of the pics on here.

Crazy I missed this thread.

Cheers, Bob

You're not the first to want detailed photos. Much like the real 7 WTC, good pictures of my model (until now) have been hard to come by.

Cool idea. One thing with Legos is trying to make any elevation change is always clumsy looking. Things obviously look too square and structured. Nature doesn't look like that. But using those clear tiles sort of softens the effect. You still have your elevation change, but it doesn't look blocky, even though the blocks/tiles are still there. It hides their edges, and what you end up with is a slight elevation change.

I think that the elevation effects depend on what scale you use. For example, if you build a small scale model of a skyscraper, elevation changes and transitions, can't really look as accurate as real life because there are no pieces/elements that provide a small enough slope to accurately represent the gradual decline in elevation of certain parts of the skyscraper's complex such as sidewalks or pavement. I do agree that nature isn't blocky like LEGOs are but that's part of the fun in it. You can make whatever you want and there are no rules to tell you otherwise!
