Not quite a skyline, but, lego patches within the skyline. . .

Probably because at that scale and level of detail the entire Eiffel Tower model would be about 22 feet high and cost many $1,000s of dollars. It is also possible that some of the parts required are rare enough to prevent the entire structure from being realized.

The level of detail is quite amazing.

It's actually a computer render, not a physical model. He claims his program can't handle anymore due to memory limits.

Just as the recession has slowed down the real construction industry in the USA, it appears to have slowed down LEGO building as well.

I am making slow progress on my LEGO model of the Penobscot Annex, the fifth and final building in my replica of the complete Penobscot block in downtown Detroit.

The building is about 2/3 done and will be 23 stories high when complete.

Penobscot Annex, Detroit, Michigan

After almost a year, I have finished a 64.5 inch (1.66 meter) high model of the 23 story Penobscot Annex in Detroit Michigan. The model weighs about 90 pounds.

I will probably post pictures of the entire Penobscot Block once I have the opportunity to assemble it in one place.

My exhibit Skyline, featuring eighteen microscale LEGO skyscrapers from around the world, will be on display at the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art in Midland Michigan from June 12 - September 2nd, 2010.

The museum is hosting a summer long LEGO event centered around Nathan Sawaya's popular Art of the Brick touring exhibit. In addition, there will be large scale LEGO models of famous Detroit landmarks from SSP's own DecoJim and a LEGO train layout by the Michigan LEGO Train Club.

Click here for event information, musuem hours, and tickets.

That's cool. The Dow Museum is about 20 minutes drive from where my parents live. I'll have to check it out next time I'm back in town for a visit.

Both Spencer and I set up our portions of the Art of the Brick exhibit at the Midland Center for the Arts today.

Here is my completed Penobscot Block:

In addition to the Penobscot Block, I am displaying my Detroit Public Library model and the Griswold Building (which is part of the Michigan Lego Train Club layout display.

Very cool! I especially like the base. I love how you can see the reflection of the tower in the "water".

^thats not to bad, if you could find a way to add windows or something to the grey parts it would be really neat.

Wow JRS, I continue to be impressed by these. I know I've asked you before but how much do these usually cost a piece? Which where your most expensive models?
