Not EIA related - just returned now from the Everett Boeing Tour. For those who have not been, it will blow your mind. I find it interesting how the 5 different models of planes are made, ie, the 747 model is almost car assembly type, from station to station, whereas the Dreamliner is set in place mode. Spent a few hrs just watching un-painted, green filamented planes abort take offs, take off and land quickies etc. They were also delivering a new Dreamliner to LAN airlines with speeches, red carpet type hoopla. Must have alson been 4 dozen planes ready for delivery parked further down the assembly hangar.

Tour guide knew everything about Boeing - very refreshing to get your dollars worth these days....

And they're knowledgeable about Canada as well

Just wondering about the delivery hanger though..where is that please? There are 40 odd 787's knocking around outdoors at Everett, Boeing Field and even North Charleston.

The LAN plane was being delivered at the Future of Flight. Just off to the side of the assembly hangar...

ok, do you mean it took off from the runway that is between the main factory/outdoor prep area and the Museum of Flight? It's just I've never heard of there being a press conference at the Museum of Flight, but it would make sense...last time I went, there was one of their 747 Dreamlifters parked outside the back of the Museum though.

Allow me to correct this for them... and note NOT ALL corrections are "bad!"

Sunwing
LAS flights end 2 December as usual, so not Oct-Mar
PVR only 1 flight per week
Cayo Coco flights are in fact non-stop on the way down but via YYC on return
Total of 12 weekly vs 10 weekly last winter (but more shared flights with YYC - so capacity wise, flat)

Air Transat
This winter for the first time all flights are A310 (prior years had some A330s). Also, more flights are combined with YYC and some of the flights they list are combined flights (eg Liberia and Panama City are the same flight).
There are no flights to SJD on Air Transat.
Puerto Plata flights have been cancelled.
They are actually flying 10 weekly flights vs 11 weekly last winter.

Westjet
Cancun should be 4 weekly not 3
Palm Springs should be 7 weekly not 6
Phoenix should be 10 weekly not 9 (yes all 738)
Total of 51 weekly vs 49 weekly last winter (combined US flights and international)

To look at the whole picture, AC dropped CUN (not to mention AC is reducing LHR as well) and Westjet dropped MBJ.

That is a net gain of 2 flights per week folks and if you factor in the loss in LHR, that is a net gain of only 1 weekly flight international/transborder.

They're talking about passenger growth. Just the fact your on this forum rather than Calgary's illustrates to me that it is affective! Why? When competitors need to enter ones home to attempt sychological agression, it means they are afraid of you! So weak little Johny boy...so weak!

Johnny could tone down the cynicism for sure. It is not needed given the corrections he has outlined...the folks over at EIA must have "stupid" looks on their face given the decided lack of credible information contained in the press release.

^ fair enough, but you would hope they would be more accurate! 9 to 11 errors (depending on what one would call an error) in such a simple process seems like a lot.
I guess we shouldn't really be surprised as this seems to be the norm for them anyway! Spin away...

You could also say its a 4% gain in weekly flights with some having larger planes as well and should provide us with an even bigger bump in International and Transborder pax. A lot of people use the IAH flight to transfer as well which has been upgraded many times from a 735 to a 738 to a 739 on some flights and was bumped to twice daily.

On another note InterJet is about to announce there new schedule and there are a few Canadian cities being added to the route network from Mexico City. From what I've seen most won't start till early 2013.

Let's just say there are 4 Canadian cities and one route will be shared by two of them using a A320.
