Action at the gallery, they're starting to get hardcore now!

These concrete barriers now run from the mid 800 Block to just short of 12th Street:

Crappy pic, but you can just make out one of the new escalators mounted at the landing in front of the former Kmart:

I think it's a great idea to give the current memorial a remake, as the current memorial is looking super-dated sitting by itself. The remake should incorporate more of a historical touch and include information about local Philadelphians who's lives were directly affected by the disaster. I'd like to see personal stories associated with the memorial, from victims, heroes and the soldiers that first found the camps.

Thank god, I work right near there and the current memorial is just a horrible use of space. This seems much more proper.

This looks amazing, I'm a little disappointed to see that they didn't repair the detail under the 3rd floor windows on the left side.
I wonder if they plan on addressing this later.

This is a huge improvement, but this area desperately needs to do a better job of accommodating pedestrians.

Sorry for the crappy image quality, but it looks like there's machinery on the Reading Viaduct! This project will literally be the investment that will start a wave of development in Chinatown North/Callowhill/Eraserhood/whatever the hell people are calling it now.

Glad to see that work has resumed on this project near 10th and Arch in Chinatown! I haven't seen any action at this site in a long time.

It was MISERABLE recently with the construction going on at the corner where the memorial is, but once Love Park is done I think that intersection will be fine.

They've been off and on on that project for a while now. They added 3 or 4 floors on top of it then stucco'ed all the bricks. Everyday I see people walking around the site though.

Recently appearing in the pre-construction section of Intech's site is this addition to the Walnut Street Theatre on Walnut between 8th and 9th:

Quote:
The focus of the new three-story building addition will be a 12,000 SF state-of-the-art “theater in the round” which will have a fully-trapped performance level, seating for 380, an orchestra area, a technical booth, and a tiered overhead catwalk structure to support lighting. The new building will be located immediately to the east of the existing structure, and will connect to the existing building through a new lobby. Also included in the new structure will be costume and dressing rooms in support of the new theater, two large rehearsal rooms fronting Walnut Street, and a roof deck for theater patrons. At the ground level the Walnut Street Theater will create a 9,000 SF shell space for future use as a retail or restaurant space, as well as a loading dock to serve the entire building.

And here's the current parking lot at that location:

A few years ago, I heard about WST's plan to build this addition with a residential tower on top of it, but I guess the tower part has been either postponed or abandoned.

Yeah that one's dead. 45 stories and taller than The St. James too.

^^An addition for the Walnut Street Theater is nice! This will definitely only take up a portion of the parking lot, which would still leave plenty of room for an eventual tower.

That's what I was thinking, and--as can be seen 8 blocks further up Walnut--an overbuild incorporating this space also wouldn't be out of the question.

Pretty cool. That lot on 12th is tiny, looks like it's like 10-12 feet wide. callahan ward seems to own the project, they build really nice houses

1600 block of Ridge

For those of you not familiar with what is going on in Francisville... it's pretty amazing. This is just one block in that neighborhood.

Such a cool building. And some of the larger layouts look awesome. I don't love the location. I wish we could have restored buildings like this sold as condos in center city. Would really be amazing.
