Here is the roller table that CATSA is trialing at EIA to see if it speeds up passenger progress through security screening. Passengers can put their metal objects etc. into the bins while they are still in the lineup so there is no delay when they approach the security checkpoint.

Used the roller table twice now and found it does help speed things up only if the person has used it before. There is a little confusion at first. And watching families negotiate this is quite entertaining. Saw one guy put his kid on it for the ride around.

After having traveled out of YEG a couple times this month, I like how the control tower's shaping up. The hotel's looking not too bad, but the alignment of some of the punched windows look weird. Given Edmonton's winters I really do hope they put in some form of fully enclosed (and heated) walkway between the hotel and the terminal before the hotel opens.

The long roller table does help to speed the security process up, since some people may take a bit longer than others to get their metal objects and electronic items and liquid stuff sorted out in the trays. The security lines can get long, but at least they move steadily. I was told by a man in suit, whom I think works for CATSA, that YEG was one of two airports in Canada being trialled for use of the long tray roller.

The big square hole on the side of the building on the left seems to be an opening for an enclosed walkway. Your concern is also visible in the picture Cold posted.

Can anyone tell me if i or we as Canadians have any right to not disclose information to the US government? I am taking a flight to Europe in 3 weeks and got this e-mail from Lufthansa, with whom i booked the ticket through.

I copied and pasted parts of the e-mail below:

Has anyone encountered this type of e-mail? I have always booked through AC and have never had this request on behalf of the US government.

Nope. But then I fly non-stop to LHR on AC and connect. I would not worry about the US Security requirements unless you have issues you are concerned about. Likely they already have all your info anyway. I have NEXUS so could care less about my privacy in the good ole US of A.

Yup, know way to get around it. The American government strong armed the EU and Canada that they require the information for fliights to Canada within a certain distance of their borders. YEG is one of the only airports that doesn't have to report the information.

Were there any fast jets at YEG this weekend...I heard some on Saturday flying around over the south part of the city, just not sure if they came out of YEG or YXD.
