I think the Pearl's now at 33 (not too sure myself!) floors or something like that. Anyone know how long before it's topped out?

The people who sit on these appeal boards are saints for having to deal with these moronic objections... Why were these issues not appealed in the first place? they wait for a one storey increase! Thos two extra residences will sure have a profound impact on the rear lane and vehicular traffic at the intersection of jasper and 119! I wonder how much one of these appeal hearings costs the city

New offices for politicians now expected to cost $350 million

Darcy Henton
Postmedia News

Thursday, April 04, 2013

The cost of renovating the former Federal Building for new MLA offices has jumped to $350 million - up $75 million from the previous estimate, according to documents obtained under provincial freedom of information legislation.

Just over two months ago, Premier Alison Redford said there was no point in stopping the downtown project - then estimated at $275 million - because it was already more than half complete...

Cost of replacing bridge quadruples
Shocked city councillors defer decision, seek more information

Gordon Kent
Edmonton Journal

Thursday, April 04, 2013

Shocked councillors are looking for ways to save money after learning Wednesday the price of replacing the 102nd Avenue bridge has more than quadrupled.

The cost is expected to hit $32.2 million when work on the span across Groat Road starts next year, up from a $7.4-million estimate set in 2001, said Barry Belcourt, manager of the road design and construction branch...

Is the Fed+Plaza really going to be done for this September? You guys said that last year, and yet, the 100th bash happened at the Leg with construction on the horizon still. This whole thing has been a nightmare. I've been anxiously waiting for this thing to be completed (it was supposed to be done for Summer 2011). The Plaza itself looks very nice.

Darcy Henton is with the Herald, and I've noticed a pattern with his/her columns bashing spending on Edmonton-related prov gov't projects. WRP supporter, I'd surmise.

^Perhaps there was an enclosed area that constituted a 3rd floor that is being removed. Rooftop patio could still be part of the DP.

Report to Council April 10 recommending historic designation to the Kelly Ramsey Building facade. This will lead to $1.77m grants to enable Day to restore the facade as it is now.
