Send in the Health Inspectors and shut it all down if contaminated.

doesnt surprise me one bit, seeing as i grew up 20 min south of PA in st. louis, PA has been going downhill for years. havent been to Moose Jaw that much, heard great things about the city though. if and when they do achieve this status--good for them.

Hmmm... they make Agrocorp head office moving to Moose Jaw sound like a big deal. Doesn't it mean only like 20 jobs or something minimal? Not to rain on MJ's parade or anything. I hope for the best for that city.

PA [2.27%] actually posted a higher five year growth rate than MJ [1.85%] did in the 2016 census.

In order for MJ to even draw even with PA in the next five years, MJ would need to grow at minimum 8.5% in that period [assuming PA's rate stayed the same].

I wouldn't mind seeing it happen, but it doesn't seem to likely to me in short term.

The one major advantage MJ has over PA is it's proximity to another major centre (Regina vs. Saskatoon). Commuting between MJ and Regina everyday is realistic and a reality for a lot of people, whereas for PA and Saskatoon, it isn't. At the same time, this could potentially provide incentive for businesses to locate in Regina over MJ for the same reason.

There's a definite charm MJ has over most other cities in the province though, especially over PA.

If the GTH ends up taking off Moose Jaw could end up being a huge beneficiary.

The feds have ruled all sports arena funding. They didn't give money to Edmonton and they had a much more involved revitalization than we could possibly imagine.

Calgary has also been told they're not getting any money from the feds. Moose Jaw didn't get any. Even Ottawa, who wants a new rink downtown, isn't going to get federal money.

Until we're back in the boom period we're just straight up not getting a new arena.

This is correct. You only get federal money for stadia if you are in Ontario and you host a two week soccer tournament.

There's no money provincially or civicly either at this point so I'd hazard nothing unless Brandt just does it on their own. Which isn't likely, but there's always a chance.

In the provincial budget, the province is taking over responsibility for Wascana Centre. Curious to see if that puts a halt to some of the damn building in the park since the mayor can't say no to anything.

The province is the one who said yes to it. They had the controlling vote in the WCA and were the major pusher for development in the park.
