I would gladly trade in these four residential towers (which I am sure will work against our new "entertainment" zone) for the GM office tower (or I guess Rogers office tower now)

And good idea guys! All we need to do is plant some douglas firs on top of our 100m residential towers (green roof). Then, if we wait 400 to 500 years or so, those firs could grow as tall as 80 meters (or more) and then bam.....180 meter tall tower! Take that view cones!

Yeah, there goes our "entertainment" zone. I can hear it now, "Its to bright, its to loud, no concerts beyond 10 pm, cant someone just have the piece and quiet of the suburbs in the middle of an entertainment district?" hehe

That form has been there for quite a long time (maybe over a year)~ I suppose now it should probably be re-named Rogers Arena Towers They should copy the Leafs and name the development Canucks Square or Canucks Place, and make it a hip development, with a movie theater screen broadcasting the Canucks games, etc.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if that's the plan. There's a lot of people emulating MLSE's business plans, which makes sense, especially for him.

There has been a NEFC noise level review which will entail noise conventants on title. These towers aren't really any closer then the Espana tower or even Firenze, maybe a few metres so no need to worry.

Are these going to incorporate the "new" zoning allowing the individual condos to have self-contained rooms within each strata plan?

That's a cool idea, but there is a movie theater down the street, but a bar like in calgary would be nice. Canucks Square would sound nice. I guess people would copy MLSE business plan because all they care about is $$$$

A screen outside of GM place broadcasting the games would be cool, but i think such a screen (or two) would be far better suited for Granville Street. You know, to help pump up the pedestrian only, entertainment zone atmosphere, have a couple large LED screens that broadcast all of the Canuck, White Caps and Lions games (along with PSAs and other community events / updates).

A projection screen on the Howe Street wall of the Sears building would be awesome...just like during the Olympics.

And the CTV building corner at Burrard/Robson is an incredibly ideal location for a screen.

Yes, although, it will be hard to totally emulate as people in Toronto don't actually seem to care about the results of either of the franchises under MLSE's control.

Saw an ad this week that the City is having some open houses on "Additional Higher building in the Downtown".
It looks there are proposals for "height increases significantly above current policy & regulations" which seems to include the Pattison Toyota site.

Sat 23rd at Central Library
Tues 26th at Pacific Centre Rotunda
Wed 27th at Roundhouse Community Centre

Only the back half of the site is included, along Hornby. The details have already been leaked on what is proposed in the rumour thread.

You know Torontonians

Some are already planning the route that goes down Younge st.

Can't wait for more info on the pattison site, for retail I doubt it would be something like Urban Fare or Nesters but something along the lines of Save-on or Price Smart
