They told me the main roof parapet is 394 feet. Still, that doesn't account for the two "boxes" for mechanical uses at the very top. I'm thinking the building may very well be over 400 feet.

Snapped a quick shot from the 43rd floor hallway @ 360 on Saturday. Sorry about the glare from the glass, but I thought you guys would like this view. Interesting to see Ahton and Austonion from this angle:

They've revamped their whole approach to the property and are "re-envisioning" as we speak.

Does seem odd that they would just stop construction in order to redo the project?...

Wow, aside from the Austonian and Ashton, what a great vantage of the W! It will be 64 ft taller than Ashton and a couple of blocks closer to that view. Should be really impressive when the cranes are at their highest.

Great view. Yeah, the W will be pretty impressive there. It'll be a little less than twice its height now once it's completed. The building now is probably at about 250 feet up. So I would figure the cranes will probably be a little more than double that height once it tops out. They'll be at least level with the top of Frost Bank Tower. I think the building itself will probably be a little bit above the horizon in Kevinb's photo. I'd love to check out that view myself!

Speaking of the W, I saw the facade up close and in person today, and I've changed my outlook. The photos in my opinion don't do the facade justice. I think it's very sleek.

Well, another way to think about it -- The main roof of 360 is approx 472' ft, correct? So from the 43rd floor, you are probably at a level of 460 (since I think the 44th floor is actually on main roof level). So the W will be 16 feet higher than the vantage point of that picture. The crane maybe 36-40 feet higher (not taking into account lot altitude differences).

I can't believe how negative everyone is being about the W's exterior. I think it's so modern and sleek looking. I really like the color gray they're using, and I think its gonna look amazing when it's all done.

Yeah. I did not understand the opposition here to the W's exterior. It looks as if it will be beautiful.

This one pisses me off. Refuse to renew Gingerman's lease. Kick out one of the best bars in Austin. Force them to move to a shitty location, ruining one of the coolest bars in Austin.

Then, just a few months later, change your mind and let some new bar sign a lease at its location.

I agree! The W is gonna be an awesome building! Not as good and the Austonian or the Frost.....but it will be awesome looking.

And its good that all the buildings all look different...all of them...that is important for the Downtown...
