No updates as far as I know. I always check the windows when I walk by to see if there's a City of Ottawa permit up. Have yet to see anything.

I've posted an update on the grocery store a couple pages back. I live in this building now as a tenant, it is going to be a Metro.

Can't speak for the condo side of this complex.

Any ETA on the opening? This area is a complete food desert.

Walk around. Didn't see a City of Ottawa permit for the grocery store. Also, only entrance for the retail space is on Queen. Wish their was at least one more on Albert, or maybe on the corner of Albert and Lyon.

They kind of tried something here. Noticing now that's it's only the north tower. Would have preferred the railings go down flush with the bottom of the balcony slab.

Getting tired of waiting. Scaffolding still up on Queen Street. When will they finish? Seems work is stalling. And I don’t see anyone outfitting the space for a grocery store. Do any insiders know anything? I know some on here are Skye renters.

I don't have direct information but I hear through the grapevine that the Rideau/King Edward location will be done first given there used to be a store there before development. Lyon/Albert will follow. If that is true, figure the fall for work to begin on ground floor. It must be a done deal though because there is no leasing info posted anywhere.

It's not unusual for many months to pass before commercial space is fitted out in new developments.

Scaffolding is getting quite annoying. It was far worse a few months ago when it took everything behind the bus shelters. People exiting the O-Train Station heading south colliding with the STO passengers was a serious issue. It was quite a relief when most of it came down, but now I'm ready for the rest.

City has done a poor job plowing the sidewalk. They seem to think plowing in front of the bus shelter is enough. There's a reason why the sidewalk is so wide. We need it all year round.

I sent a complaint a few weeks ago and they plowed one extra width behind, but not fully. Better than nothing I guess.

Honestly this looks like the commercial space at the bottom of EVERY building constructed in Ottawa in the last 5 years. Past and present.

Damn, I was hoping for a Spring opening... My work is in close proximity and would make my life so much easier having a grocery store right there.

That seems odd, given Moon is more or less complete - there’s people already occupying the buildings. Not sure why a tenant would wait unnecessarily.

It's funny how calling the city/311 can actually be quite effective.

I remember at my old apartment off Beechwood, there was a burnt out street light at the corner. Driving home the night it went out, it struck me as suddenly dangerous/dark, there was also the park across the street that had the through path to the other side of the neighborhood.

I stressed this factor to the operator on the phone and to the City of Ottawas credit they had that light swapped in something like 48 hours.

Thanks to all of our conversations about balcony railing colours in the other threads, now that's all I can see when I drive around town.

On Saturday I noticed that Moon is no different. Dark cladding, black anodized window frames, and clear anodized railings.

Do you think RLA people wince when they drive around town too?

Edit: Looking at the photos a couple of pages back, now I see that things are messier than the straightforward description I provided above.

Shouldn't the windows and balcony rails at the light precast areas have been clear anodized window frames/clear anodized balcony rails (with maybe a white frit on the glass) and the dark brick areas have been black anodized, with black rails and smoky glass? Or is that just WAY too complicated for them to figure out?

I wonder what the impact on the look and feel would have been. Is it too much contrast? For instance at the corners, everything is black except for the exposed concrete and clear anodized railings, creating kind of a light coloured strip. Is this intentional?

And in all cases, coated balconies and/or balcony slab edge covers/face mounted railings would have been nice.

Seems pretty hard to remove scaffolding when they are actively working on the cladding above. Would be a costly lawsuit.

Exactly. The scaffolding will be removed once they are done working overhead. Some people do not understand that. Yes, it should have been completed already though to be fair.
