No, it's not that.

I happen to like most NHL arenas. Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, Chicago, NYC, etc. All modern, and blend in well with their respective backgrounds.

This "thing" they are constructing in Edmonton is going to be an eyesore. They really dropped the ball. I hope the interior is nice.

To be honest, it looks like a gigantic pork chop Even the Saddledome in Calgary puts the exterior of the new Edmonton arena to shame.

"Ugliest" is a bit harsh. My issue with it is that I think it will look dated in 5-10 years. That's what happens when you go with an extreme stylish design - the wow factor wears off and then it will be forever linked to a specific timeframe.

I really do like the MTS Centre's look. A good mix of brick and glass.

Aside from the shorter than standard length of the CFL Argos new home, it is a textbook example of how a sports stadium in Canada should be built. It's beautiful.

The designers of Commonwealth Stadium and the new Edmonton arena could sure learn a thing or two from the architects of the Toronto sporting venues.

The world must be going crazy when me and Berklon agree on something but the exterior does nothing for me. I criticized people for complaining about THF before it was finished and complaining for no good reason, so I'll withhold judgment until completion. But having said that I have no good reason (architecturally speaking) to not like it, I guess it`s just not my cup of tea. I don`t think it`s bad, it just doesn`t set my heart a twitter. My opinion only, but I do agree with Berklon`s first paragraph.

Precisely what I was going to say. Calgary has the same problem with the Saddledome. Vancouver with BC Place. Montreal with the Big O. Even the Skydome looks terribly outdated.

I'm glad sports venues are moving away from the massive, larger than life structures that were popular in the 70s and 80s. I happen to like the finished drawings of the new Mosiac Stadium in Regina, as an example.

Too bad the actual exterior of new mosaic doesnt look as good as the renderings.

Also the interior of Commonwealth has aged beautifully. Exterior could use some work.

After Exhibition Stadium (Jays and Argos), SkyDome (Jays and Argos) and anything involving the Leafs (just inherently bad) the Argos preseason game was the first really nice experience I've had at a Toronto sports venue (other than Varsity, in its small way). Whatever the attendance is this week, when word gets around the Argos will gradually become a popular attraction again.

Canada could host the CONCACAF Gold Cup next year with little-to-no upgrades needed at any of the facilities. Hosting that event well would do wonders for a potential World Cup bid like the current Copa America is for the US.

Both South Africa and Brazil each had a stadium with less than 60,000 capacity for one of their quarter-final matches. In fact, South Africa used a stadium with a 40,000 seat capacity for one of their QF games.

Obviously, a Canadian World Cup bid would include a massive renovation of Olympic Stadium in Montreal and/or a 70,000 plus seat stadium in Toronto..at least, I hope it would.

He is obviously referring to the exterior. I actually don't mind the exterior of Rogers Place myself. It will be interesting to see how it ages.

In terms of the interior, it's no contest - Rogers Place will be superior in every way - more features, wider concourses, more concessions and washrooms, wider seats with more legroom, open concourses, better finishes throughout the arena, superior locker room, therapy rooms, media rooms and offices, bigger scoreboard, more luxury amenities, an attached practice rink...whew, did I miss anything?
