It's a very walkable community. I'm closer to more amenities now than when I lived in Oliver.

The pedway between Enbridge/KR and Manulife is open, but construction hasn't finished yet. Even inside the pedway there's still unfinished fixtures.

^ IIRC, the G Wing is where the chemistry studies takes place.

Sounds to me like someone's chemistry experiment went very, very wrong. Uh-oh.

I feel like the length of time it is taking to complete this pedway may surpass the length of time it took to build the new Enbridge building itself.

The last pic shown makes me with they kept the towers gold. On the other hand, the gold can look bland as shown in the second last image. The blue glass looks nicer on a dull day.

Seeing those pictures (thanks hilman) all I can think of is "what a shame". All of Scotia's individuality and uniqueness is being stripped away as it becomes like all the other forgettable towers. It's sad.

^Love Manulife but I also like Bell (CCB) Tower, CWB (Principal Plaza) ... and ... Scotia (at least till now). I've also always had a soft spot for the black Enbridge (Royal LePage) building.

'One-of-a-kind in Edmonton': Community shows love for the Graphic Arts building

Quote:
Leaving behind odes to the architecture and the history, dozens of Edmontonians turned out this weekend to show their love for the Graphic Arts building in the Quarters, which faces possible demolition.

Local advocacy group Heritage Forward held a ‘heart bomb’ at the two-story building Sunday, inviting residents to share their thoughts on brightly coloured valentines taped to the building’s fading exterior.

“I love it because it’s really one-of-a-kind in Edmonton,” said Dan Rose, a member of Heritage Forward. “It has this really distinct, pronounced expression of the art deco style, with these streamlined, modern features, so architecturally it’s incredibly significant.”

Twas a good event to bring some much needed attention to this building and its future/fate.

It wasn't just budget but energy issues as well. quite a few studies on different Glass and shades were done early on.

I would like to know how the buildings to the south will be affected. When Energy square was built. the building across Jasper Ave had to change the ventilation rate on the North side of the building because of Reflective sun loading. Quite a challenge when most buildings here are not designed for North-side cooling loads.
