Conversely to this discussion it's not as if the skylines of other Canadian cities are devoid of nature or something. I mean one reason Toronto has such a dynamic skyline is the element of Lake Ontario and it's not too difficult incorporate the islands.

Edmonton looking great - JW is making all the difference and taking the skyline to another level (literally & figuratively).
Just wait till things start rocking with residential towers in the the districts west of downtown.

I find the islands a tired and touristy example. Personally, Im more impressed by Toronto's extensive tree canopy and ravines in dozens of its urban/inner suburban SFH neighborhoods.

Vancouver is blessed with far more impressive parks/scenery but I wouldnt be surprised if Toronto took the cake (on average) for dense urban tree canopy. A lot of Vancouver is very sparsly treed like around Arbutus Ridge and most of Burnaby/East Van.

I feel that many on here still have an outdated view of the Vancouver skyline.

(Again, I do think that Toronto is the best in Canada)

Vancouver's skyline has actually evolved somewhat from the Table Top days 10 / 15 years ago.

Actually, my favorite view of the Vancouver skyline involves no mountains at all, it is from the North Shore looking south.

The view from the East looking west is also really nice.

Also Vancouver's skyline (again, while not being the tallest) has added / will be adding several knew outstanding taller towers to the skyline at various points in the core, also improving the skyline viewed from the south.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens to perceptions of the Vancouver skyline when the next round of starchitect buildings are complete. Vancouver House, Kengo Kuma, The Butterfly, Robert Stern's pair and all 3 Ole Scheeren buildings should stand far taller and more prominent than their surroundings. Still wont have the height of Calgary or Toronto, but it will definitely help remove the stigma of boring monotonous architecture.

Also 1133 Melville and Burrard Place.

They may not be as unique as the towers listed above (although I personally really like 1133) but they are also positioned to add some height and weight to the skyline.

You can now add Edmonton to that list too. Even the tallest of the above-mentioned starchitect buildings will look like a stubby little dwarf next to Edmonton's Stantec Tower.

Will there be enough of these new buildings to really stand out in the skyline though? Vancouver has always had a lot of really nice buildings, they just get lost in the mass of the skyline.

Yes. Most of these new towers are taller than the average Vancouver tower...

Vancouver has the projects I am most excited to see built in the next 5 years. What other two Ole Scheeren buildings are you referring to? I only know of the Jenga one.

That's not even Stantec that you see.
