Good eye Urbanboy. I hadn't noticed that before. It's amazing how far you can see from up there. I was actually standing in a lot that was for sale up there just under Ensign Peak. If any of you are interested, the lot was for sale for only $499,000. Crazy how much dirt costs these days.

I love it I cant wait. I can't wait for skyscrapers to fill out the parking lots by the Little America hotel, which will happen, and west of the U of U building.

Also, I originally thought you were some transplanted enthusiasts when you called the peak in the distance, Mt. Nebo, believing it had to be Mt. Timpanogos. But when I looked again, you have to be right. There is no way to see Timp from that sightline. The peak in the distance must be Nebo, which must be 60 to 70 miles away.

I checked the distance on Google Earth, you're spot on.

Oh, and I forgot to add my skybridge... I'll fix that in a moment.

The program I used is called Skitch. I just downloaded it off the internet. Although, it only works for Mac.

that image of the wholoe foods store is certainly outdated and was never really a serious consideration. The grade change, geology, etc make it difficult to make the west side retail at grade and still get the required underground parking.

The water tower is no longer being moved. The sand building is in the process of being stripped of it's facade and will be rebuilt.

Urbanboy: Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to buy a Mac. Can't do what you guys are doing with a PC, but that's sort of always been the case.

That's a out of date rendering. The developer will use Bricks, not glass.

That is not the approved design. The new design pulls some of the details off of the historic building, including openings, store fronts, materials, etc. The structure is entirely brick and glass. While the building is probably a little too big for the site, it is similar is size to the other structures on the site, bigger than the two samller trolley barns, but substanitally smaller than the main building. The better design would have been to locate whole foods within the main building and build smaller retail pads along 700 East and 500 South. however, the owners and lessee's were not interested in that. The best thing about the Trolley development is that it insures the long term preservation of the historic site.

Thank you. As far as an introduction go, I am a professional planner by education and trade and work extensively in the downtown area. Due to the sensitive nature of what I do, I will not disclose who I work for, but some will probably figure it out soon enough.

I have followed this site for some time now, but just recetnly got around to register. I do not necessarily think that bigger is always better and have mixed feelings on the SLC skyline getting taller. Fuller, yes, taller, maybe. My perspective is geared more towards the pedestrian and the sustainability of structures, so I place a high premium on adaptive reuse projects. This website provides a lot if insightful information and opinions on wide array of projects, and it is the most used for local developments.
