RoMa's own peculiar marketing prose again: "Standing this tall, it does pierce through the Halifax skyline and will be a beacon in the heart of the city."

Yet another Halifax tabletop tower, "piercing the skyline" at a vertiginous 22 whole storeys. A beacon! Sure. Okay.

I almost wrote "ya can't make this stuff up", but of course that's exactly what they did.

On a side note, they sure seem to like including "Vista" in their building names. I suppose if a building is 'piercing the skyline' you want people to know it will have good views of the ocean...

Looks like the type of stuff that got proposed in the early 2000s. International Place vibes (the first iteration before the flatiron... IYKYK).

International Place was such a loss to Barrington IMO. For those that don't know here was the initial rendering. Interesting that you can basically make that in Minecraft these days. We've come a long way since 2007 renderings.

Halifax has grown a lot and gotten a lot of development since, but it's too bad it didn't grow just a bit more during that 1995-2015 era. It would have been nice to get 1 prominent office tower like that plus at least 1 major residential tower development downtown like the original "Twisted Sisters".

The office developments of around 2015 were okay but a bit lackluster and less impressive than the 80s. I'm talking about projects like Waterside Centre for RBC. The exception is TD, although it was a reno rather than full new construction. Maybe it would have been better if the RBC tower had been overhauled instead of something smaller being built in the Historic Properties area.

Huge respect, Jstaleness! You nailed it. Amazing that these renders are still out there.

I'm happy with the Halifax we are getting, but it would be interesting to see progress then + progress now.

I still believe that lot needs to be developed!

The flatiron iteration of International Place and the failed Salter St development on that ugly site with the volleyball courts and the weird beach were possibly the two major losses.

International Place flatiron (I think, somehow, this lot has now been scuttled by naysayers?). I would have thought it was still available for Crombie to develop.

It's actually incredibly frustrating to think about the influence anti-development people had in the run of the late 90s until the pandemic. We'd have a lot more housing and the city would be more vibrant.

There was also a 150 m or so observation tower with the Centennial project that was quickly cut after as negative reaction (which was probably from the same 5-10 naysayers in the media). Then it became the site of the art gallery propsal.

I wonder what is up with that site. It is about time to start up another waterfront development. That one could use an overhaul and so could the Chebucto Landing and ferry terminal area, which will need some changes for the new ferries.
