Another one at grade. Thanks for the photos. Looking back through the last few updates I realise that I had not apprecaited that there were five single family homes that were on the street. I know that a couple were relocated to the end of the block but I have been walking around with the idea that there were no more than three on the end there. Five is a much more substantial number and, like I said in my post about The Beasley, it will help make the neighbourhood feel more real and lived in than if the houses had been demolished in the name of progress. Between this cluster of houses and the one on Hamilton between Smithe and Robson I feel like we, as a city, have made some good steps to preserve glimpses of our past while moving ahead full speed towards the future. I so really wish that the project included some marker that an important cultural facility once stood on this site. Whether one went to shows at Richards on Richards or not is beside the point; it was part of the cultural fabric of the city for many years and now it's gone. I felt that the CFOX site on Nelson and Seymour should also have had a marker of some sort for the role it played in the city's cultural life and for all the bands that got a big break in those studios.
Thanks for the photos Locked-In.
