Any differing opinion warrants a ban? The word for this kind of thinking is called, small minded! Vanoc has now said that there is no likelihood of any profit from the games, the nightly medal ceremonies at Whistler have been canceled, the hiring of an additional 100 games staff has been called off, need I go on....

Your posts aren't a differing of opinions, they are called stirring shit. Nice try on pulling a smokescreen there.

1) VANOC hasn't called off any likelihood of a surplus for these Games. They may have revised the budget, but note that what they have done is created a contingency which could still turn into a surplus.

2) The nightly medal ceremonies at Whistler were a waste of money in the first place. The plan was to have nightly medal ceremonies at both Whistler and Vancouver; there have never been two medal ceremonies venues at the Winter Games, and having two is simply redundant.

3) Hiring staff is a cost saving measure and nothing more. It doesn't mean anything. It's interesting how you complain "costs are going out of control" and yet you'll also complain when they try to control and reduce costs.

You don't even know what's going on with the 2010 Games, please refrain from making an opinion unless it is an educated one. The members here would for sure know much more about the 2010 Games than you do.

^ it's interesting how you complain about the quality of the Games and at the same time you'll also complain that they cost too much.

So much for not trying to stir shit, eh?

Ban him.

And you get your 2010 information from 2010watch.com? No wonder why....geez, maybe I should get my 9/11 information from http://www.debunking911.com/

Man, you are a real nutbar quoting from a nutbar website.

And in your previous posts you have no idea and no grasp of what you even are talking about.

With that mentality, you are now even embarrassing your own province Manitoba. Really. Typical NDP'er.

That's right busier than GM place!

No wonder, that's because there's nothing else to do in Winnipeg BUT go to watch something at the "too small for NHL never get the Jets back" arena. What a fun statistic. Enjoy your minus 50.

So you are wishing Winnipeg ill will? Thanks; I expected more from Vancouverites (especially a moderator), but I guess I was wrong.

Classy. So because one guy goes on a rant you feel the need to insult an entire city.

PS, you have no idea about the City of Winnipeg, so your comments are null and void.

So if Vanoc doesn't turn a profit, and comes in around breaking even, what is so wrong with that? The city gets a bunch of great new venues, we are showcased to the world, and my bet is most people have a lot of fun. Yeah traffic will be bad, there will be other issues for sure (security will no doubt be a pain in the ass) but chances that won't be what residents will remember 5, 10 years down the road.

Oh, and let's stop bashing Winnipeg. Winnipeggers happen to be some of the nicest people out there (probably as a result from having to live in such crappy weather all year round). It is a shame the MTS centre isn't a little bigger, because it would be awesome for them, Canada, and the NHL, if they got the Jets back. And with the financial situation in Phoenix right now, who knows? Just need to get rid of Bettman.

Actually, I'm from Winnipeg, so yes, I know everything there is to know about the "peg." And while it has it's charms, they are few and far between at this point and the temperature still gets to -57 with the wind chill.

And based on people like yourself, I would say the same thing about Vancouver. You are a horrible ambassador to Vancouver.
