KALAMAZOO | The Exchange (155 W Michigan Ave) | 182 FT | 15 Floors

This project definitely came out of left field. It will certainly be a nice addition to the Kalamazoo downtown urban fabric. Plus its being built on a surface lot.
Developer picks prime downtown Kalamazoo locale to erect 8-story mixed-use complex

Quote:
The $24 million eight-story building that is planned for downtown Kalamazoo featuring, among other elements, a bank as the anchor retail tenant and about 50 "upscale" apartments will be rising on what is prime real-estate but currently a private parking lot in the city's central business district.

The project to be located at Michigan Avenue and Rose Street is that of Kalamazoo developer, Phoenix Properties, and designed by architects TowerPinkster. The project was announced Thursday as a "skyline-changing" addition to downtown.

The 200,000-square-foot building, set for completion in late 2012 or early 2013, will also feature ground-level retail, upper-floor office space and internal parking. Groundbreaking is expected to begin later this year.
